6 of the top 10, 9 of the top 15, and 14 of the top 20 being shows that have been on the air in the last decade tells you you should put this list right into the trash.

So all the best shows were on in the 40s and 50s? TV has not materially improved since Leave It To Beaver?

Hell of a strawman you’ve assembled there, Bud.

Your response implies that the only valid list would have equal representation across all decades. As if the quantity and the quality has remained the same since the 1920s. I think that's bullshit.

I think when your stated criteria is the tv shows that changed the medium to have 70% of the entries all fall in the last decade when the medium has existed in earnest for 70+ years is asinine. It doesn’t need to be the same amount from each decade (another strawman you’ve invented) but it’s so hilariously skewed to this particular moment in time, it’s indefensible.

Why am I further debating this with you? You’re a grown ass man linking to Rolling Stone in the year of our Lord 2022. (While defending the superiority of the zeitgeist at the same time!)

Let's see your top 10 list, annotated with which decade each show aired.

fleabag
A perfectly fine show that is not the fifth greatest television program in the history of the medium. Nor in the top 105.

I would say this is a good argument the top 20 kinda sucks and is playing to their audience (20-30 year olds?  I mean who actually reads rolling stone? )
not that the whole list is garbage

Fleabag, loved it, don't know if it would break 100 for me, but I've yet to compile that list

The rest of the list is not meaningfully more diverse timewise.

This is a list that has I Love Lucy and Hill Street Blues, possibly the most acclaimed and award-winning comedy and drama in television history outside of the top 25 and Atlanta and Fleabag in the top 10. This is such a prisoner of the moment.

But we aren’t allowed to critique it unless we post our own top 100 for derision! Just like we can’t critique a politicians performance unless we have served in elected office. Or can’t critique Josh Allen skipping a sure touchdown pass into the receiver on fourth down this past weekend unless we ourselves are nfl QBs. Because reasons!

I mean, show me an AFI or British Film Institute top 100 films of all time that has films in the last 20 years taking up 75% of the spots.

You're going to be very excited to learn we are three episodes into season 2. You’re going to be less excited to learn it’s almost entirely a new cast/story.
