Last year, the date was announced on 7/22 and the lineup a week later.

Looks like the schedule has slipped.

That messes up my Replacements guess. Hmmm.
Seth, can you send out a cryptic message that will give incentive to keep speculating?

Baltimore Sun just announced it's dead (with a statement from both Seth and Sprint): http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/music/midnight-sun-blog/bal-virgin-mobile-freefest-not-returning-this-year-20140729,0,3697972.story

Keep hope alive!

What will we do during July, August and September if not debate the merits of the lineup???

Okay, maybe I am just an optimist, but I think Seth sent the cryptic message I was hoping for.

"Unfortunately, the pieces are not all there right now with Virgin. Whether they are again who knows. But the Freefest concept is fantastic and we are exploring options to continue it at Merriweather,? wrote the I.M.P. chairman.

Sounds like it could happen, but not with Virgin. And maybe it is just me, but I am okay with it not being free, if that is the way it ends up. I like the "Fest" part.

If it is over, thanks for the fun the past few years, Seth!

Can anyone confirm or deny if MPP will be closed during renovations next summer or if the work is being done in the offseason?

That's a bummer, but it couldn't be free forever. I really wouldn't mind having it go back to VFest or VirginFest at a bigger venue. The first few years were awesome.

Yeah, Freefest started the year I moved here and I'll miss having it as a summer send off. Many of the acts they brought in just wouldn't play this market otherwise, and to be able to see them in a festival setting was great.

I would happily pay for something similar (regardless of the branding) moving forward, and hope we can continue to have a unique and prominent festival in this area.
