Bummer... and not to sound like an asshole, but I've seen probably 100 people over the past 25 years hit the deck during a show, kind of strange they would cancel the whole night.
Same here, but this was not a typical high or drunk person. I will never unsee what I saw last night. The guy didn’t crumble to the ground, he fell over like a tree and hit the floor hard, instant blood.
A bartender and a woman who i saw earlier working the door were there quickly. Even with the odd fall I assumed he had simply passed out. It quickly became clear that he was not breathing, a few close by lit the area with phone flashlights. There were two other guys with him who somehow were not totally losing their shit. Some quick questioning occurred “did he take anything” etc.
CPR was started quickly by 930 staff, after a few minutes someone in the crowd who was a nurse took over. A few minutes more and police were present. A few more and paramedics were finally there - I am actually amazed how much time elapsed before paramedics were there. CPR continued throughout. Narcan was administered, I think just as a guess/precaution, but i don’t know.
Somehow, inexplicably the opener was still playing and the lights were still dim. I honestly don’t know how much time went by before more of the crowd recognized that something was occurring. People started yelling to stop the show, lights finally came up.
Some assholes on the balcony started bitching - fuck those people.
Pretty quickly the staff asked that everyone step outside, they were people out of every exit. We were in the ally behind the stage and within 10 or so minutes the staff said show was canceled. I don’t even know why we were still standing there, even if the show continued there’s no chance we would have gone back in that night.
It was fucking surreal. It was like watching the Damar Hamlin NFL incident but not on TV, rather a few feet away.
I hope they were able to revive the guy. Life is fucking fragile….
