 it bothers me that this story is headlined 'blogger robbed, shot...' and other places have interchangeably used blogger, journalist, etc.
 
 anyway, it makes it sound like he was on duty and the shooting was in the line of work. which wasn't the case at all, just wrong place. wrong time.
 
 if he were a construction worker, or it were a maid or any other line of blue-collar work this wouldn't happen. you would never read 'maid robbed, shot' unless it happened during their line of work.
 
 his job has nothing to do with why he was robbed and shot. ugh.

i'm sure you're aware of perception.  and perception says that blue collar is not cool.  that's why "jobs" like "bloggers" are in the headlines.  blue collar reminds people that fun isn't fun anymore.  i know.    :roll:     i enjoy no collar.

yes, but the point is that it was a minor (very, very minor) "celebrity" who was the victim. if it was a notable maid who was shot, then it probably would have indeed said "maid shot." his job has nothing to do with why he was robbed and shot, but it does have to do with why people would care more than any other mugging.

I think that's true, and the mention of the Black Cat is probably to answer questions of why he was out walking at 2am.  Although it's unfortunate the Cat will be linked in people's minds.
