If the vaccine, came out tomorrow, and they said it was the vaccine, as effective as the flu shot . . . would you immediately take it . . . or would you, wait to see what happens to those who do?

I'd wait until right before any flights i might be taking...earliest possibility is April but more likely late June and/or August.

I feel like I won't be doing anything else that is very risky any time soon and even the flying would be optional.

y'all are kidding yourselves if you think it'll be up to you as to when you can get the vaccine.  front-line workers and at-risk populations are going to be first in line, and the rich and/or connected will jump to the front, hotspots will get it before areas that have it under control, certain insurance providers and healthcare systems will have access to the vaccine before others, etc.

it'll be months before the average jane-on-the-street will be able to choose when she gets the vaccine.

I know all that, sweetcell. I'm just saying when i would take it if it *was* available to me. If not, I'll wait my turn.

I mean, all joking aside, what you say is true. Front line workers, the immunochalleneged, and ALF/SNF residents will get it first, followed closely by those with means.

Little Joey-Walk-Down-The-Street will not have access to it for months absent an FDR New Deal-esque socialist rollout of the War Powers Production Act.

Hey look, a bunch of dudes on a music forum . . . know everything.

CDC tells states to prepare for distribution of COVID-19 vaccine by Nov. 1 http://news.yahoo.com/cdc-tells-states-prepare-distribution-231945460.html?soc_src=community&soc_trk=ma

Mass release of the vaccine. Mass.  As in mass.  You know, mass.  2 days before the election, mass.  Now, that's mass.

the CDC is explicit in saying they have no guarantee that there will be a vaccine, but late Oct/early Nov is the earliest one could emerge if all goes perfectly (and/or the white house gets involved and provides regulatory waivers).  better to get a plan in place now on the small chance it actually happens, as opposed to being caught with your pants down (with your sleeve up?).

personally, i think this is a pure political stunt.  i doubt we'll even have the manufacturing infrastructure in place to produce millions of doses of a vaccine.  we don't even have enough vials to package a vaccine in.

Vaccines typically take several weeks before they're actually effective.

in the documentary, I saw on this...https://imlegend.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline

patients start to experience rabies like symptoms which made them go berserk and bite anyone within reach which caused the infection to spread, shortly after the virus went airborne with a new strain that had a 90% mortality rate, 1% remained the same but the remaining 9% became strong killing machines that fed on the 1% of remaining humans. .

You do understand 100 million doses in the first 3 months would definitely constitute "mass" and yet it would leave like 230 million people not vaccinated, right?

I heard they are mass producing the vaccines now, before we even know if they're effective, just in case.
