I think the bigger issue and nobody is talking about this, is how ridiculous is it for countries to turn away their own people? Mexico did the same and now their own people are probably in some internment center.

I think countries should always take back their citizens. I mean it literally lends some credence to Trumps “they are sending us their worst not their best” when their own countries don’t want them back. “You want to return some colombianos to us? Yeah well we don’t want them! Fuck those guys!”

Wasn’t the Colombian prez deal more to do with how they were treated/delivered vs. him refusing to take any deportations back?


I mean were the ones we sent hardened criminals or just a bunch of day laborers caught in a sweep(who likely have no record others than overstayed visa)


I really see this having a big impact on the price of groceries, nanny care, lawn care and the million of legitimate jobs these “illegals” do

I hope the conclusion to some of this is to create temp worker visas

I understand Colombia’s stated objection although can’t vouch for its veracity BUT in that case you take your citizens back - as Brazil did- and then summon the US ambassador and complain. If you don’t think your citizens are being deported in an acceptable form you don’t prolong their mistreatment by leaving them in the hands of their alleged mistreater!

Not saying the deportees were criminals but that it kind of contributes to that perception and helps feed that narrative.
