Do you love it or should I save my $$?

Never really been a gamer but the hype is making me wonder....

If you are a casual gamer and are intimidated by the 360 and PS3, then you should enjoy the Wii. It has a few great games, but I have been disappointed by its lack of outstanding selections and Nintendo's laziness when it comes to expanding on the system's potential. Try it out at a game store or a friend's house before you decide.

i have all three of the new systems, and the wii is my least favorite.  its good, but sometimes the controls feel gimmicky.  also, the graphics look like ps2 games.  the first party nintendo software for it is great, ie, mario and smash bros.  id go with a ps3 if you can.  better, familiar controller, great graphics and sound, starting to have a really bad ass library.  the 360 would be my next vote.  good graphics, and fun, but with a terrible hardware failure rate.

For me the Wii serves it purpose for causal gaming, not being a big fan of  first person shooter games. the only drawback is that there is ain't that many must buy games.  i.e. Way to many collection of mini-games.

I just got one, and I really enjoy it.  It's true it's a little more for party gaming, but that's what I like about it.  I'm not the type to sit around playing Halo all night long; I'd much rather have games that I can play with people.  I've only had it for about a week now, and we haven't even bothered to get a game.  My wife and I are having a ton of fun just playing the Sports disc that it came with.

That being said, I'm ready for some Mario Kart Wii action.  BRING IT ON!!!

Wii graphics are fine.... I think the controller is a lot of fun to use and suspect that as more game developers get use to writing games that take of advantage of it's functionality there will be much more interesting games available.

I tend to buy only well reviewed titles, so have been sticking with the new Zelda, Metroid, Guitar Hero and just started playing Paper Mario.  Will probably get Mario Universe at some point, looking forward to Mario Kart and Lego Indiana Jones.  Wasn't overly impressed with Super Mario Strikers as it's like to many other Nintendo titles of being to reliant on gimmicks and power-ups.  For that reason Super Smash Brothers isn't high on the list.

One thing that is good about the Wii is that it supports old Gamecube games and a number of downloadable titles from the older consoles like NES, SNES, etc...

I've actually been playing more DS titles of late... Lego Star Wars and the latest Advanced Wars game both fun titles.

we have a wii.
we got it the night it was released.  my girlfriend bought it actually.  i could have waited.  she got into a major car accident four days before, but was there in-neck-brace for the midnight onsale.  it's been boxed up for 6 months because we don't play it.  there's no good games for it really.  IMO it's more of a party game system for when you've got a bunch of people over.   i think there's some cool things that could be done with it, but for the average game, i don't want to have to flail my arms about (not that i play madden, but if i did, i sure as hell wouldn't want to have to do a throwing motion every time i passed the ball) -- if i wanted to do something that physical i'd just go do something outside instead of playing a video game.
we got a 360 about 8 months after getting the wii and we play it a LOT more ... and the online stuff for the 360 is a lot better.

..it's really about what you're going to be using it for.. if you aren't/weren't really into video games and you are thinking of buying _A_ system, then i'd probably advise buying the wii.  it's also the cheapest of the systems if you pay retail price for it.

i think the biggest problem (for me) with the wii is there just aren't enough games out there for it (especially ones i'm interested in).  i usually wait a while before buying systems.

Had mine since day 1 and love it. They're finally getting good games out for network play (brawl and mario kart coming). Wiiware titles will start coming out this year so I think there will be lots of interesting games to download and more experimentation. Spielberg's Boom Blox looks like it will be fun. This is also the first year they'll be doing NCAA football for the wii.

Like Kosmo said, you can also play gamecube games which you can get used for pretty cheap.

Finally, to me it's worth it if only for Wii Sports and Bomberman '93 on the virtual console.

A friend just got one last week on best buy's website. I think that you just have to keep your eyes open. If you work near a target or best buy, walk through during lunch.

This is how the missus found one.  Bought it 3 weeks before Christmas at list price from Amazon.

I'll pretty much echo what everyone else said.  Wii is fun for parties and such, but my 360 gets a lot more use.
