Ah, this is a great list as it demonstrates my favorite pet recurrence in rock:  in a band that's mixed-sex, the chick is nearly always the bass player.

I swear, I didn't intend to make the point that women are always bass players. I almost included Carrie from Sleater Kinney but she didn't make the top 5.
 
 Now, the fact is, if there is one woman in a band, chances are pretty good that she plays the bass. I even forgot another major one -- I had such the hots for Kira when she was in Black Flag (when she was sporting the t-shirt and jeans look, not when she was all tarted up).
