The explanation for the band name is in the book, "The Severed Alliance" if you remember...I don't remember exactly word for word, but to paraphrase, their intent was to become an English pop band doing 2 1/2 minute pop songs etc.....the most common name in England is "Smith" so Moz and Marr first decided on "Smithdom" but later decided on "The Smiths" because it sounded so English.

I'm fairly sure I won't make Gomez.  We'll meet up at sometime soon.  And I have to figure what I can pass on to you (though it's hard to imagine I have anything that you don't...)

I think that was a cue for a HUR HUR HUR.........

I can come and meet you on the bridge sometime if you like.

And Mankie, that explanation always seemed really lame to me. I prefer the Mark E Myth.

Moz would never name his band after a paki hater...okay, Moz might, but Marr definately not!

Seriously, do you think Moz would name his band after another human being? You know he's the center of the universe.

"well life is hard enough when you belong here, so shelve your Western plans"........ I always put that down to naivety. But I dont think Moz was nearly as bad in 1984, all those rejection letters from NME must have brought him down a peg or two.

But I can't PM you back, dude!  May mean giving me a...a real email address?!?!  I wanna send you my tunes list.  And you're right, I spend WAY too much money on music so will happily buy what I like.  I just have to be careful about going with word of mouth, I've been burned so many times.

[Speaking of, where do folks think you get the most cash or credit for your used CDs?  I have a few I listened to once and am ready to 'chuck'.]

You are right. Newer releases often make quite a lot of their money back, plus you can gouge say $3.50 for S&H when it only costs $1.

Cursive.  Hated it.  There's more, but that's the most glaring example...
