best quote of the article: "I really hate jaywalkers. I despise them. Since I don't run the country, all I can do is yell at 'em. The other option is to run 'em over, but as a compassionate conservative, I would never do that."

my fav quote: novak said "He's not dead, that's the main thing."

as if that's all that mattered: not dead?  no problem!  i wonder if this emboldened him - pedestrians are sturdier than he thought, they can take an occasional hit.

poppycock..people have all kinds of reasons for telling secrets... but when its NEWS its news.. regardless of the reason..and if anyone is using anyone its novak using the politicians..he's still around and plenty that spilled their secrets long since left washington

and its not just republicans that talk to the guy... he's a huge journalistic presence in this town and repeatedly drives the political agenda..

you want a bitch? read some david broder.. thats your bitch.

Four out of five of Nobak's columns are minute details on the inner workings of Congress, which appeal to about four out of five thousand people. He's become another Jack Anderson, a once-great journalist who know just farts out whatever he can get with one or two phone calls. He'll score the occasional scoop, but who can actually name one story he's "broken" in the last two years?

No one can fuck with Woodward when it comes to access and ability to get comprehensive facts on important matters. And the true indie choices on hardcore journalists goes to Seymour Hersh and Dana Priest. Those two have broken more stories in the last year than Novak has since Evans died.

Yep.

He hated Scooter Libby and used the White House to get him arrested.  Clever bastard, that Novak.

I don't get why he wasn't arrested for hit-and-run.  He tried to leave the scene, his excuse being he didn't know he had hit a pedestrian... even though eyewitnesses said the pedestrian was splayed across his windshield.

He has a history of aggressive driving which he appears to take pride in, and he is also legendary in DC for abusing his staff by hurling hateful invective and objects...  whether or not he is a good journalist (and complicity in an Administration's plot to illegally unmask a CIA agent doesn't qualify as journalism in my mind), he is unquestionably a douche.

A biker chased him down and made him stop (not sure if the biker blocked the path, or Novak knew the jig was up). But because he eventually stopped, he won't be charged with H&R.

I just find that remarkable, because he clearly did try to leave the scene.  So the intent was there.  I actually wish the biker hadn't done that -- Novak would've been tracked down, given how recognizable he and his car are, and it would've been much harder for the cops not to throw the book at him.

In 2001, he cursed at a pedestrian on the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and 13th streets Northwest for allegedly jaywalking.

????Learn to read the signs, [bodily orifice]!?? Novak snapped before speeding away,? according to an item in The Washington Post??s Reliable Source column.

Novak explained to the paper: "He was crossing on the red light. I really hate jaywalkers. I despise them. Since I don't run the country, all I can do is yell at 'em. The other option is to run 'em over, but as a compassionate conservative, I would never do that."
