bingo.

So what if there are auctions on eBay.  Someone managed to get tickets and want to use our system of free-enterprise to try to capitalize on it.  All that shows is that there were some tickets to be had.  There were probably very few.  Calm down, don't bid his tickets up - and try again during the public sale.  The club sells more than they are rated for to hot events (don't tell me you don't 9:30, I've seen it).  There should be tickets available during the regular sale.  If you don't get any, then it's up to you to decide if you want to pay more than face value, not the brokers.

Damn people calm down.  This was ONLY the presale.  A SMALL percentage of tickets are sold via presale.  Most tickets will be sold tomorrow.

it isn't going to be any easier tomorrow.  if anything, it will be a LOT harder.  a lot of people didnt know about the presale, or didn't have the password.

Yes such programs (or machines as you call them) exist.  Reading a captcha and scripting for ticket pulls is not amazingly difficult.  You can't just Google for them though because a) they are technically illegal so its nothing something to be advertised blantly and b) if everyone has the program its effectiveness and thus relevance is reduced.

The way passwords are dessiminated for this place is a joke.  Sending out a newsletter with the password all over the country is just plain stupid.  Does Seth the Clueless really think Joe Bob in Poughkeepsie is really a big 9:30 club fan?

BTW - 9:30 used to use Ticketmaster.  Don't expect them to go back any time soon.  Ticketmaster is as flawed (more so in most cases) as any other ticketing agent.  The 9:30 Club left them for a reason, whatever that reason was.  So, this "when are they going to use Ticketmaster" whining isn't going to get them back on TM.  Why would you want that anyway?  So you could complain about Ticketmaster more?  Try Ticketmaster for any other sale this summer during the concert season and see how much you like the results.  In fact - you're better off with Tickets.com.  Granted, this was an internet only sale.  But, look at how many more outlets there are for TM over Tickets.com.  Add those people to all of their phone operators, and the fact that their site can handle 1,400 transactions at any given moment...  Well, 1,000 or so tickets for a 930 show aren't go last very long at that rate are they?  At least with Tickets .com you're not dealing with as many retail outlets that can pull their tickets at the moment of sale, without having to wait for an internet browser to refresh.

because people ONLY in the immediate washington DC/maryland area attend the club.  i've gone to plenty of shows in New jersey, NYC, myrtle beach, etc.  930 isn't that far of a drive from NYC, and if i lived in NYC where every single show to come through sold out, i'd be at the club a lot more than i am.

quit trying to run teh fucking club.  seth does a fantastic job, and its why 930 is not only one of hte best clubs on the east coast (if not hte country), but is also one of the most organized as far as online-things go.

you should see most clubs.  its ridiculous.

and as far as as programs.  yes, they aren't a myth.  they exist.  but about 5 brokers in the entire country have them.  they cost tens of thousands, and only the gigantic brokers can afford them - and those guys aren't bothering with shows at the 9:30 Club, I can assure you.

plus, there isn't a program that can crack hte tickets.com CAPTCHA.  it doesn't exist, so nobody on this board has anything to bitch about.

you either know how to use tickets.com and know the ins and outs, or you dont.

i mean, that's pretty common knowledge around here.  people know.  it's not a secret.  i'm not hiding anything.  i don't really sell much on Ebay; i work mostly with previous clients and on other networks.  do you think you're some kind of detective?

that doesn't make my contributions around here any less significant.
