The Feelies--the best concerts I've ever been to were their shows at the old 9:30 Club.

Belly

They were kind of like a proto-Sleater-Kinney. Well, not exactly, I guess. But anyway, I liked them. Tanya Donnelly has released a few solo albums over the years since Belly's demise, but she doesn't seem to want to rock out the way Belly did. Her solo release last year, Whiskey Tango Ghosts, was really quite good though.

Keep your eyes peeled, while I don't think they'll ever reform and record new material (at least not while Todd is still pimping Burden Brothers), they're not above doing "reunion" shows if they're getting paid, they've done 2 in Texas this year.

Winter Hours. Just found out a couple of days ago that singer Joseph Marques died three years ago. The only info on cause of death I could find said that he had a heart attack.

I saw them a few times at 930 F St. NW. One time, when Stanley Demeski was temping on drums, a friend of mine did the board. I went up to the booth to check out what he was doing just before the set and he said "Do the lights." Having had zero experience I protested but he showed me the little slider box anyway. So with 5 seconds of training I did the lights for a then-hot "college rock" band. Good times.

for some reason i've been missing blind melon a lot. Unified theory never did it for me. i think shannon could have made that band put out so many other good albums.
