Bands you miss
« on: September 01, 2006, 12:10:00 pm »
So I'm midway through my total CD backup project, hitting the letter "J" this week, and it just hit me...

I really really miss the Jesus Lizard.  Hand's down the best live band I've ever seen.  Ever.

Canyon
Monster Magnet (which might still be around)
 Urge Overkill

And I miss the Grateful Dead. My music tastes have moved on, but if they were still touring with Jerry, I'd still go (June 25, 1995 was my 62nd and last show). I will always love the songs, the playing, the community spirit and the drugs.

The Boo Radleys
 Catherine Wheel
 The Dead Milkmen
Inspiral Carpets (who I guess technically are back together, just not making it this side of the pond yet)
 Jesus and Mary Chain
 Ned's Atomic Dustbin
 Paw
 The Ramones
 Sugar

but the one I miss the most is Elliott Smith. I feel it almost every fucking day, and 3 years after his death I cannot get over what a void it has left in me...weird for a guy I never met. For all I know he could have been a total jerk, but his music is so underrated in my book. I still listen to him at least 3 or 4 times a week. And Heatmiser was great as well.

 Bands I will miss:

 Grandaddy
 Sleater-Kinney
