there really isn't any "good" mexican restaurants in this area. . .now, if you want south or central american. . that's different.

lauriol plaza satisfies my mexican food craving.

Umm,

Well off the top of my head I have locally been to Guapos, Rio Grande, Tia Queta, alero and el Tamerindo. I guess I have been to a whole load of other non-local Mexican themed eateries.

I think Lauriol is the best of the ones I have been to.

Why what do you think is better, other than guapos?

Cactus Cantina is my favorite -- same owners (and menu, I believe) as Lauriol.  I got no beef with Lauriol, it's the insane waiting times, etc.

I used to love Rio Grande....haven't been in years, though.

I have a feeling Pollard's going with a whole "the only good Mexican I've gotten in tne U.S. is in Austin and this little place in ____fill in the blank for obscure place_______

no, i pretty much like any mexican food, Guapos was my favorite, but they got worse starting about 5 years ago, I dont currently have a favorite, i much prefer cactus cantina over lauriol for various reasons other than the food

rio grande is about the same as cactus and lauriol

best i have had though was in san diego, have never been to mexico

well, "mexican food" tends to vary wildly once you hit the southwest, that is, texas, new mexico, arizona, california and colorado.

boo-hoo.  other than californian, most mexican would suck for vegetarians because lard is used extensively.

Has anyone been recently? I used to enjoy it, but the last two times there were horrible and expensive. I'd rather go to lauriol plaza its food is unquantifiably better and it is cheaper. [/b]
Hmmmmmmm.....interesting, I remember meeting a couple of board members there before a show, and made a similar comment about Polly's on this very board the following day....only to be accused of being a grumpy old tight arse!

That is without doubt. Their prices have gone up a fair bit since you were here. One time there was a tomato shortage and they were charging $2 for a slice of tomato to go with a burger.

 NEVER AGAIN.

Otherwise I am sure I remember Pollys salad being $9, the last time I was there it was $12. Lauriol salads have not gone up in that time, they are still under $10.....

As for the burgers..... they are not as good as they used to be, and they are more expensive than nicer places, like clydes.
