God I hope so. Loved the new songs I heard when they opened for Belle and Sebastian at the Hollywood Bowl. I think these guys have the potential to be the next REM (remember back when REM still made great records?).

finally . . . the polyphonic spree "fragile army"

"wait" was a good ep, with a classic cover of nirvana's "lithuim".

PJ Harvey heads into the studio

PJ Harvey is to start work on her eighth studio album next month.

The singer has teamed up with Flood and John Parish for the follow up to 2004's 'Uh Huh Her'.

According to her official website, the LP will be more piano driven than her previous material. A release date for the as-yet-untitled album is still to be set.

Meanwhile, the singer will be releasing PJ Harvey - 'The Peel Sessions 1991-2004' to mark the second anniversary of John Peel's death later this month.

 Sloan Sign To Yep Roc
 by

Stars of Filter's current "You Should Already Know" section, Sloan, have signed to the venerable Yep Rock label in the US. The label is gearing up to release that band's latest album Never Hear The End Of It on January 9th 2007. Sloan Will be in excellent company as the Yep Roc roster already include bands such as Bob Mould, Apples In Stereo and Ken Stringfellow.

Never Hear The End Of It will be Sloan's eighth album and their longest, clocking in at a hefty 29 tracks over 76 minutes, and the band will be stateside soon for some promotional tour dates. File that under "awesome!"

Our third album HANG LOVE will be released on Tuesday, February 13th, 2007 (the day before Valentine's Day). New website coming soon with news, weather, sports, and info as to where the record release party will take place. Special thanks to Steve Jones who, for the past month on Indie 103.1, has declared HANG LOVE his pick of the month at Virgin Megastore - even though it's not out yet! At the moment the album is being mastered, artwork is being designed, and we - the band - are resting up for some serious touring next year. Can't wait to invade your town and damage your hearing. HANG in there. LOVE, Burning Brides

Nothing is certain, I guess, but all signs point to an album release by The Arcade Fire in 2007.

I'm not positive, but I believe Feist, Apostle of Hustle, and Reverie Sound Revue should all have albums out in the 2007. (The first half, I think. At least for Feist and RSR.)

New Explosions in the Sky, late February or early March.

New Bloc Party, entitled A Weekend In The City, February 6.

 New Pixies sometime in 2007.

New Therion, entitled Gothic Kabbalah, sometime in January.  I'm probably the only one on here looking forward to that one.   :)    With much anticipation, I might add.
