New EP from Bright Eyes, entitled Four Winds, due March 6.

New album from Bright Eyes in April.

New album from Maria Taylor, entitled Lynn Teeter Flower, due March 6.

New album from The Cure in May.

Needless to say, I'll be waiting for the new Bright Eyes releases with bated breath, as well as the new Maria Taylor.  Good to know about the new Idlewild, too.

This is kind of old news but just noticed it hasn't been listed in here yet.

New York City's Interpol are in the midst of recording their eagerly anticipated third album.

The Joy Division-influenced indie rock quartet recorded their first two Matador albums (2002's Turn On The Bright Lights and 2004's Antics) with Peter Katis at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, but have elected to stay closer to home for the still untitled new disc. "The studio is in NYC, and we're enjoying being local," the band posted on their website.

"The atmosphere and the environs of a recording facility affect the sound and feel of an album in the subtlest ways. And we are affected. And it is subtle. Sounds great so far. But we'll be here for a while yet. Upward and outward. Begin, begin. Big kisses all around."

The band's deal with Matador has ended, so they've decided to release the new disc through Capitol sometime next year.

Interpol briefly considered using the names Las Armas and The French Letters before settling on their current moniker. They've released several EPs and singles in addition to their two LPs.

America has a new album coming out, produced by James Iha and James Schlessinger, and featuring Ben Kweller, Ryan Adams, Jim James & Patrick Hallahan, and Matthew Caws & Ira Elliot. It has covers of Nada Surf, Morningwood, and My Morning Jacket.

 Could be fucking mind blowing!

I've looked at that page before and decided I don't like it because the albums are listed by title instead of by band.  I don't really feel like clicking on every single one to find out what band it is.

That new America album sounds pretty interesting.

I haven't bothered to listen yet but it sounds to me like a bunch of very boring old has beens trying to make if off of the creativity of the young and new. Guess it's not fair to judge without giving them a fair chance but I'm already pre-disposed to not like them since I couldn't stand them back in the day.

Saw something about a new music tapes album some time in '07 recently. Wasn't too crazy about the first imaginary symphony for nomad but the 2nd imaginary symphony for cloudmaking is a fun listen. I love Julian Coaster's  saw playing; he should just put out an album consisting entirely of that and some guitar/synth accompaniment of some sort.
