I think the Pixies will be one of those $40 9:30 Club shows. Sure, they are "indie legends" (whatever that is) but I don't think mainstream America is familiar with them, and their appeal is limited to music nerds like us.

If the Sex Pistols are a 9:30 Club show, the Pixies defintely are as well.

Good point Rutherford...I guess ultimately it's up to the band. That's probably why they're considering a tour with the Chili Peppers. If they headline, it will probably be a 2-night stand at the 9:30 and tickets will be expensive. But hey, I'd rather pay $40 to see them at the 9:30 than $25 to see them at the Patriot Center. Even back in 1990 I think it was $23 to see them. And that was before ticket prices gouged away (sorry, bad joke).

In '89,I got my two tickets and backstage passes from some girl with blue hair for free. The ticket price was like 8 pounds each (~$12 back then).

Are you telling me that Pixies tickets were more expensive on this side of the pond?

Hmm, if they tour with the Chili Peppers, I think the 9:30 club is out.

Well of course. The 9:30 club is not in Europe.

I would imagine they will do clubs as well as a big tour with them. It might not cover every single city, but I would bet that the demand is there. It's been 12 years since their last tour. But given how disastrous it was for them opening U2's Zoo TV tour, I would be stunned if they went ahead and opened for the Peppers.

didn't read the NME article; only read this and thought the RHCP tour was in the states.  My bad.  Throw me off the board.  I should probably go anyway; not a Pixies fan.  [But am more confused that I'm not than that other folks are...]

So I thought I'd missed this whole thing...too young, born at the wrong time blah blah blah.  And now I hear that the band which got me into fucking music in the first place is getting back together??!?!  A gift, I tell you.  Now if only someone would call up Kevin Shields...

Word is they're going to stay out west before Coachella.

I don't care if it's not as good as back in the day...X were better this past time around than they were in the mid-80's, and Iggy is about 300 years old and still kicking ass. Here's to the Pixies, may they prove cynics wrong! ;-)

A PIXIES REUNION

 So.  Going.  To.  Be.  There.

And I pray for 930 and not Patriot Center.

Yes, the Pixies at 9:30 would be amazing. Hell, give them 5 nights at $80 bucks a pop and id still go to all of them.
