Hoya, I have noticed you posting alot of vintage classics in the WAYLT thread . (ie: good taste IMHO). As I know you were too young to get them as they were released,I have no doubt, having managed to survive that era myself, that you will have many hours of enjoyment to look forward to going through them.

 i'd gladly take a look see at any of the collections already mentioned and also Bombay Chutney, redsock, Darth Ed, Bags, etc, etc... i will only look at Julian's non-sticky collection, which could be non-musical for all i know...

1) Kosmo, he clearly is the power pop king and all his past recommendations and gifts have been fabulous.
 
 2) Bombay chutney, I think he's got a lot of the old school stuff I am sorely lacking, and I think his divergences from what I've got would be interesting (EXCEPT for the Dead!!!)
 
 3) Markie and PDX Pollard, who aren't here much anymore, but have a lot of that new stuff I haven't gotten a chance to listen to (Markie esp. with the Brits, and Pollard esp. with the Yanks).
 
 4) Kurosawa, cuz it'd be fun to hang out with her and listen to Idlewild B-sides!!

 My CD collection contains mostly releases by certain artists only.  It's by no means a wide spectrum.  I have many/all albums/side projects by the following bands:
 
 Devo, Polysics, Beat Farmers, The Residents, Brand-X, Hawkwind, Steely Dan, Morphine, Cabaret Voltaire, Frank Zappa, Laika & The Cosmonauts, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, FEAR, Wall of Voodoo, TRIO (Da Da Da), XTC, Oingo Boingo, Barnes & Barnes, The Dead Milkmen.
 
 I have rather a large collection of novelty music, but by far the biggest haul is my movie theme/soundtrack collection.  I've got some rare stuff there.

 If anyone here is heavily into classical, you'd probably like to raid my house...I'm pretty sure my dad owns a good chunk of every classical and semi classical recording and re-recording, ever...vinyl and compact disc.  It's genetic.

 Rhett:  He's the only one who mentions old schoo country George Jones, Haggard, etc.  I love the old stuff.  
 Dupek:  He digs Zappa and Monty Python so he'll have good stuff (to me) by default.

 To find different/new things:
 Snailhook: I checked out Boris after he mentioned them.  
 Whoever it is that does the shows at Florida Ave.  That might be snailhook or redsock.  Someday I will actually go to one of these gigs.
 There are others but I can't place the handle with the music.

i'd be interested in checking out azaghal1981's collection since he seems to be the one of the few here who's into the oontzes.  christine moritz too, deathfromabove why not.  dupek's inclusion of shadowy men has endeared him to me, might want to check out what else is in there.
 
 truth be told i have pretty wide musical tastes, so really anyone with a decent collection is bound to have tons of stuff i'd be happy to listen to/copy.  
 
 and to further be mamby-pamby about this: as it is, i have more music than i know what to do with.  i have a ton of stuff i haven't listened to yet, and not wure when i ever will.  so raiding someone else's collection would be pure gluttony.  not that i'm not a glutton, i'm just having a moment of clarity

 that is most definitely me. part of my ridiculous collection sits on the floor near the living room record player during these shows.
 
 i don't have everything ever made -- remember, i hate a ton of stuff out there -- but i do have a shitload. this is what happens when you work in record stores, write for zines, and maintain your singlehood 90% of the time. about 4000 records, 2000 cds, 1000 tapes, running the gamut from metal/hard rock to trad jazz and free jazz to acid folk and trad folk to soul to hip-hop to experimental/unclassifiable. tons of rare shit and mostly pretty killer, IMHO.
 
 go to marx cafe next friday if you wanna hear a snippet of the collection.
