Does anybody get the feeling that the Wizards won't even finish above .500?

Here's a trivia question guaranteed to win you a few coins. That is, if you know anybody willing to answer a trivia question about the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Who is the second-highest-paid player by the Pirates this season?

nah, the post-gazette had something about this recently, because ownership had been sorta deceptive about whether kendall's salary they were paying was counting toward the official payroll. anyway, isn't it weird how once kendall and giles left the 'burgh they just lost completely lost any semblance of power? i mean, giles seems like a pretty obvious 'roider, but kendall turning into rey ordonez with some abillity to draw walks was kinda surprising.

I forgot I asked the question.  I had a race and lunch and forgot all about the post....

Yes, the correct answer is Jason Kendall.

With the Pirates chipping in $5 million of Kendall's $12.8 million salary, only Jack Wilson will receive larger paychecks from the Pirates.

kendall hit a total of 12 hr's in the last 3 years with the pirates, and he's hit 1 hr in the 2+ years with the a's.  his high is 14 in 2000.

right, kendall's current production is about right (i meant 12 in his last 3 years in pittsburgh    :o   ) dude's old and has better hitters around him

giles everone pretty much thought was a roider. my dad always said the problem was that all the other teams had more roiders than the buccos, and they needed more gileses

at least kendall slugged .470 or better each year from 98-00 and managed to top .390 in two of his last 4 seasons. but .321 and .342 in oakland? that's just unacceptable. i was at the game when he shattered his ankle, that was gruesome.

i will be at all three pirates/nats games at rfk on june 5-7, btw.
