i don't have this song, what album/comp is it on? [/b]
it's from "distant plastic trees," the first magnetic fields album. it's mostly available now as a combo album with "the wayward bus," which was the follow up. both of those featured susan anway on vocals, no stephin, no claudia. her voice was pretty annoying, which is why that really early stuff isn't as good. the superchunk cover of "100,000 fireflies" is far superior to the magnetic fields version, and in fact is probably one of my favorite superchunk songs, actually. they did great covers. [/b]
ahhh, i know the song now, it's on the superchunk singles collection ('incidental music'), you're right it's a great cover ... i'll DL that track from emusic, but for some reason i've just never gotten around to DLing the first 2 magnetic fields albums

I don't have any S. Merritt up to now. Am I going to enjoy this Pieces of April soundtrack I got for a quarter at Tower?

it's a pretty good album, 3 or 4 of the songs appear on other albums ... "luckiest guy on the lower east side" is my favorite of his, and "i think i need a new heart" and "you you you you you" are really solid too
