The "you are not logged in" message
« on: August 27, 2008, 06:41:00 am »
I remember someone posting about this not too long ago and have just started getting it. I'm clearly logged in (can post on/read the board) but it tells me I'm not and I can't read/respond to pm's, change things in my profile, etc.

Thought someone mentioned a way to fix it on the user's end but I forget what it was.

this happens whenever i fix the forum registration problem.  i suspect that during that process the cookie on our machines become out of date and thus causes the "you are not logged in" error. not sure when the update to the forum will have place...

i believe it's that new people are allowed to register and disrupt the general snobbery of the 'regulars' with their posts!

I believe several times in the past, it has not allowed new people to register accounts.

Sorry, I was over on Youtube listening to "So Yesterday"...

 Here's how I fixed it.

It's a cookies issue but simply deleting all your cookies doesn't permanently fix the issue - it will return.  Since I followed the steps I outlined inthat link the "You are not logged in..." error has not returned.

Some folks who are able to post have an error on the board page that says ">> You are not logged in...[Log In]" instead of where it should say ">> Hello, Seth Hurwtiz [log out]"

The odd part is, users can still post under their username even though it says that they are not logged in.  The downside is they can't preview posts nor can link directly to their PM's.

should switch the forums to use vBulletin (http://www.vbulletin.com/) the best forum software I've ever used/modified....and I've installed/programmed lots of them.
