any reviews/reports? [/b]
I thought it was great.

Tokyo Police Club were endearing.  Their performance didn't add much to the ep (of which I've become a fan), but they put on a solid performance.

I knew nothing of the Spinto Band and was pleasantly surprised.  The songs tended to sound alike, but it was a rollicking good sound and the band was having fun.

Art Brut are great.  When gimmicks fail, they fail horribly; when they succeed, they can be sublime.  I definitely put Art Brut in the latter camp.

Okkervil River were awesome. Pretty good mix of old and new stuff. Though I was a little disappointed - there were three songs I really wanted to hear and thought that they would play for sure, and they played exactly none of them: "Okkervil River Song", "Velocity of Saul...", and "Black Sheep Boy #4". They sounded great, but Jonathan was missed...

Art Brut put on a great show as usual. Unfortunately I was way too tired to fully enjoy it. I would have liked to been up close because the crowd was really into it. Rarely have I seen the audience move that much at a Black Cat show.

Last night was my one night off for shows this week. Now its on to Wilco tonight, Exit Clov tomorrow, and Mt. Eerie on Saturday...

amnesiac, you are probably single...I couldn't go to every single show I want bec. my significant other will probably break up with me if I did...

Jonathan was not present at the Okkervil River show??

I enjoyed Spinto Band. Art Brut was good, but the first time I've seen them was and will be the best Art Brut show...

Yeah, single, but even if I did have a significant other, she would be coming to most of these shows with me. It was actually easier when I had a gf - I didn't have to try to find someone to go with for each show...

And no, Jonathan was not there. They played "Black" without the keyboard, and Will even said "it's weird to play that song without the keys." I'm guessing he's still touring with Shearwater.

Same here. Well not really. But she wouldn't be pleased.

I'm betting Amnesiac is much younger than me too! I tend to like to space my shows out to one a month or so, to better enjoy the ones I do go to.

We broke up once while I was at a Futureheads show...it's really hard when you are with someone who does not appreciate going to gigs/seeing bands :/

I'm sure I'm younger too. I don't have a problem with going to multiple shows a week, but this month has just been crazy - I don't normally go to that many shows consecutively. Art Brut was the first show in a while that I was not able to completely enjoy because of exhaustion.

And come to think of it, if I did have a gf right now, I wouldn't be able to afford all these shows because my costs would double since I'd probably be buying all the tix, drinks, etc...

Here's a tip: Find a significant other who has a JOB. And do the things they want to do half the time. Then your costs won't double.

heres a brilliant idea. try going to shows alone. you never know who you will meet at a show, and just think, they probably enjoy music as much as you (perhaps even more). i went to plenty of shows in DC alone, and am now doing the same in nyc. met lots of cool, friendly people at you am i last night, and have met lots of people at different shows. granted seeing starsailor alone, i really wished i wasnt single. so many people making out.

or you can post on CL. you never know who will respond, and thusly you wont be having to drag friends along who may/may not really be into the band, etc.

I'll definitely go to a show if I can't find anyone else to go. I don't mind it much, but I feel a bit awkward during the breaks between bands. I'm not really one to approach strangers.

Bring a book or a magazine. I get there earlier to get a good spot and then just read, and then read again during bands. I've seen other folks do it as well.

That's what I do. Going to shows by myself has actually helped me catch up on my magazine subscriptions. The only downside is if you have to use the bathroom, you lose your spot. On the occasions I do drag a friend to a show, I tend to feel responsible for their well-being. If it's a crappy concert I'm apologizing all night.

Anyway, I tend to view attending concerts as watching TV. I watch TV by myself, so going to shows is like watching TV without the barco-lounger. Wait, there's an idea. Hey, what's 9:30's policy on bringing your barco-lounger?

Oh well, couldn't hurt to ask. I guess I'll just have to make do with the couch at the Black Cat.
