Love their new album! theyre back in fine form. [/b]
08 seems to have a lot of back in fine forms.

The new Tricky mucho better than the last three, leaving LA was a wise choice.

New Martina Topley-Bird is really good too.

So this looks like it should be amazing:

  Nels Cline/Carlos Giffoni/Alan Licht/Lee Ranaldo
 'Nothing Makes Any Sense' CD
A constantly shifting and engaging long-form piece of developed drone, foreboding melody, and harsh grit, Nothing Makes Any Sense finds Lee Ranaldo (Sonic
Youth), Nels Cline (Nels Cline Singers, Wilco), and Alan Licht pushing their guitars into a cacophonous state that bears much influence from the post-jazz
fields they've all cut their teeth in, but also bearing down a forceful brutality that has sometimes eluded their past material. While Carlos Giffoni uses
his analog Synth mastery to adequately contend and mesh seamlessly with the trio of strings, letting his analog noise pulsate and pierce with its own sense
 of contained stampede.

Whoa!

Kikuri (Keiji Haino + Masami Akita) - Pulverized Purple

"Debut release from this monstrous new Japanese underground supergroup that pairs arguably the two most influential and radical modern Japanese musicians
for the first time, Keiji Haino and Masami Akita aka Merzbow. Recorded live at the Victoriaville Festival in 2007, Haino pretty much dominates the proceedings,
which isnâ??t to say that Akita is reduced to any kind of background contribution but rather that Haino - in the way he does with other heavyweight collaborators
like Tony Conrad et al - immediately establishes the grounds of the exchange. Itâ??s a good move, especially when heâ??s dealing with the kind of overwhelming
firepower and monomania of Akita. When the first track starts out it sounds like classic Merzbow for the first minute or so but then Haino usurps the arc
of the track with some unlikely wordless vocals, forcing Akita into backing down to a cracked Industrial drone while Haino builds loop after loop of forlorn
song. In fact, the first track is most directly comparable to the psychedelic choral song of Hainoâ??s Nijiumu project. After that thereâ??s a bunch of tracks
that see Haino using percussive, acoustic instruments and combining lung-destroying vocals with Akitaâ??s streamrolling analog assault. But itâ??s the final
track thatâ??s the real monster, a 30 minute guitar/electronics/drums jams with Haino playing classic iconoclastic single note lead bombs ala the first track
on Pathetique while Akita destroys a drumkit behind him. A fantastic set that goes well beyond what you might expect from this particular duo. Also features
a picture of Haino wearing baggy trousers and big clumpy boots - what the fuck? Highly recommended.

Recorded on May 21, 2007 at the 24th International de Musique Actuelle de Victoriaville festival. Mixed and mastered at Peace Music Studio."

Nice Religious Knives piece on (or is it "in"?) Pitchfork today.

It's about time they got some press.

I've yet to hear Resin but It's After Dark is well worth picking up.

Oh cool...Jens Lekman's DJ just put out a droney jazz album with his own ensemble.

Edit: Not very jazzy. More glitchy ambient than anything else. Similar to Christopher Willits.

I'm listening to the Fratellis album as I write. It's exactly what you would expect from the band that did Costello Music. They certainly didn't get all Kid A on us. But you know what, it's a fun album and will be played a lot in the car this summer. [/b]
oohhh glad to hear it. i was just listening to their single. i used to love costello music but i think i played it to death.

im listening to we are scientists right now (why i edited the message) and i must say i just love this album as much as their last album. keith and chris seem to be two of the most likeable people ever. must pick this one up soon. am heartbroken that i cant see them in ny, but i should be able to see them again soon and i did get to see them in december so i cant complain too much. [/b]
Not at all liking the new Fratellis album... The slap dash lets get drunk and do drugs feel of the first is gone and now replaced by them trying to sound like any other band but the Fratellis. So its a mix of Piano Ballads, 70s Power Ballads, a song that sounds like  Little Man Tate.  I'm sure The Darkness is in there somewhere.

I've heard bands ape others to good effect, but not on this record.

"Weâ??re very happy to announce Brightblack Morning Lightâ??s new album and second for Matador, Motion To Rejoin. Release is scheduled for September 23 in most of the world, and November 10 in the UK and Europe
 on LP and CD.

N.D. Shineywater and Rachael Hughes recorded the album entirely via solar power in their adobe house in the mesas of New Mexico."
