yo la tengo and the feelies have to be my two favorites. after that?

 monster magnet
 solace
 the atomic bitchwax

the only good bands i can think of from jersey are stoner rock bands. hoboken had a great jangle-rock scene in the '80s.

Is there a crappier state in America east of the Mississippi? I think not. Though they do have a great nude beach. However, the music is unbeatable.
