you're reading that wrong.  no extra fees.

my point: the dance tent won't attract many people so organizers could have saved $ by not having it while not losing many ticket buyers.

on the otherhand, the tent does increase musical variety, which is the point of the festival.

i know at least 5 people that bought tickets solely for the DJ tent and have no plans to check out any of the other bands...

that DJ Lineup is a pretty sick DJ lineup.  i mean, yeah, people pay $40 just to see Tiesto in some crowded ass nightclub.

i'd like to catch some of 2 many DJs, but dont have plans to see any of the other DJs.

but yeah, i know 2 people who are going just to hear James Holden!

yeah, i think you're slightly underestimating the audience for these acts. swing by that tent in the evening and i guarantee you it will be crowded with people not knowing/giving a shit about the who/rhcp/flaminglips/etc.

and i'm not even a DJ person like that, i'm more into the live bands too... but you have a line-up of 4-5(?) DJs that usually play 4-6 hour sets, compacting their set into an hour and a half. that tent will be 10 hours of straight bombs i'm sure.

some of the best times i had at coachella was checking out some DJ i never heard of but lured us in while we grabbed a bite to eat or went to the bathroom close to the DJ tent..

so, supposedly VHS or Beta will be playing a DJ set somewhere else (not on any of the 3 main stages) at 5pm.

and while this doesnt sound all that kickass, it is.  I saw VHS or Beta do a DJ set at Lollapalooza and its great.

they are like a disco house DJ who then decides to play some punk songs and what not.

if you arent a killers/brazillian girls fan, i highly recommend VHS or Beta.

My thoughts: you'd be crazy to miss RJD2.  Great great show.

cool, thanks for the input on the dance tent's popularity.  i doubt i'll spend much time there, but good to know that it wasn't the questionable idea i thought it might be.

also: on the VFest "Artists" page, there's a handy-dandy  PDF version of the day's schedule, suitable for printing.  looking at it made it much easier to plan my day.

Neko Case was with the New Pronos at the Austin City Limits show, but I can't find any mention for her being with the band for V fest.

ugh, I don't like the schedule either.  Matching Tiesto against the Lips sucks, they are the two acts I want to see most, and then of course I can't see any RHCP if I try to do the other 2.  First part of the day is a lot easier for me, except I wish Digweed weren't at the same time as Braz Girls and Thievery...want to catch all 3 of them.

Assuming it doesn't rain, my hairy ass will be at Rehoboth Beach. Unless someone wants to give us two free tickets.
