Hmmm, okay, I'll wear my cranberry Amoeba t-shirt, as you can see it from just about anywhere.  That logo is BRIGHT.

I welcome everyone in to the city.  Really -- come spend your money!  But I don't want them trying to tell me I can't smoke in D.C. bars unless they move into the city and pay taxes here...    :D   Though, in the end no one from that the suburbs appeared to be doing that.  I was just checkin'.

I'll probably be at the right side bar again, towards the front. I'm predictable if anything.

I'll be on a liberal rant (likely along the "Anyone but Bush" theme), wherever I am.     :D
Just between bands, though.  I only talk during the show when Markie's there...

Smackie, about how long did the Furs play?  Just curious....thx.  Your review has inspired me to stick with a Monday night show...

I think I'm gonna go.  I'm going solo, but I'm gonna pick up an extra ticket because of the 2-4-1.  If anyone wants to buy it off of me, let me know.

If I were you, I'd hang for a bit by the ticket window and see if folks need someone to go in on a ticket with.  That's happened to me before, that we had an odd number of folks.

We're getting there at 9:15 -- see you at the show!

And thank you so much for the email!  I just got it.  Mine was there until suddenly, poof.  I must have hit the empty button by accident...

I thought there were major sound problems for the first three to four songs.  Couldn't hear the vocals, the songs were pretty hard to even discern.  But I think it definitely got better, and it was a good show.  As Skeeter pointed out, Butler's still got all the moves, but it's just a bit slower now.  Definitely took me back to driving around forcing my friends to listen to the Furs in my car.

I thought Butler's voice was fine, and he is great with the audience.  I was sure he looked right at me about 6 times (but he was wearing sunglasses...).  He's always had that cool gruffness...and I was SO happy they didn't end with Pretty in Pink.  "Ghost in You" was great.  Course, I love that song....along with the rest.  I'm sure not their best show, but I had fun.

And boy, that Mankie sure is obnoxious, even off the board.    ;)

Details...? You guys are so funny - 20 posts about going to a show but it takes half a day to find out how a show actually went (not just this thread/show).

We're just shy....    ;)   They went on at 10:00 precisely and were through by 11:15 -- okay by me because it was a Monday.  I got home and into bed at a reasonable hour on a Monday night.  And they *didn't* end with Pretty in Pink, which made me happy!  I said that though, didn't I...?

Like i said, i enjoyed the show. Your right the first three songs were really hard to hear his voice but it just sounded like he was struggling with his voice, especially during "Ghost in You" and "Heartbreak Beat". I thought he got better with "President Gas" and after that. Anyways, i just thought they sounded better their last three shows, thats all. So where was everyone? I was of course at the right bar, near the front, wearing black pants and grey shirt. I was still drunk from the night before so i did very little moving.

I was near the back (which was only halfway back for this show), left of the soundboard if you're facing the stage.  Skeeter showed up there.  We ran into Mankie on the way out...did I say how obnoxious he was??  Don't know where he was during the show.  We were behind a crew of really energetic dancers...there was lots of room, so no worries.  Good to see folks enjoying the show so much.

I've only seen the Furs recently at the Nation show, so can't compare this show to much after the late 80s...

I thought they were great.  Better than the last time I saw them in 2001. As for the sound, I didn't really notice any problems other than the fact that they needed to turn up the vocals once or twice.  In general, it sounded fine to me. I seem to be in the minority in that opinion though.

One thing I thought was strange was how Richard seemed to always be about half a step behind the music.  He would stretch the lyrics just enough that he was always slightly behind the band.  It worked out fine, but it was unexpected.

Minor complaints: 1) too short.  the main set was only 1 hour.  A few more songs would have been nice.  2) They didn't play "Sister Europe", one of my all-time favorite songs.

Lots of room for dancing and jumping around a bit.  Everyone seemed to be having a great time.  Myself included.  And with the 2-for-1 deal, you can't beat the price.

I may have gone if I had been aware of the two fer one......I also saw them in 2001 and was pretty unimpressed.....They did alot of the crap I didn't want to hear....Heartbreak Beat,  and the Keith Forsey produced dreck.....I lost interest after the first 3 albums, which were all excellent....I had last saw them before 2001 years ago when they were touring for "Forever Now" at the Ontario Theater back in the 80's.............damn fine show that was......
