Mclusky roll call
« on: June 17, 2004, 09:39:00 am »
Anyone gonna go? I'm leaning towards it - the new album has grown on me and I'd love to hear the Do Dallas material live so I can hear Falkous pronounce Ireland 'I-land'

Speaking of Black Cat gigs? Did anyone go to the Unicorns or Neko Case, two gigs I'd like to have gone to but didn't manage it.....

I would be there, but I have previous engagements of drinking myself stupid in Richmond.  Should be a blast, though.  I'd be the new stuff sounds great live, even though it's a bit of a let down.

I did manage to make it to the Unicorns show.  Not bad, but not great.  Some songs sounded top notch ("I Was Born A Unicorn," for example); others were terrible and too drawn out, particularly the new stuff.  Plus, I kind of got my fill of young Canadians that sing about ghosts and their bones turning to jelly telling me how shitty America is.

i'll be there, if only to sneer disdainfully at the band for daring to show up without my friend mat behind the drum kit. and because i still love their tunes.

Neko Case was great, as usual.  She had major sound issues (amp and other assorted stuff) to start off, though.  She said that in retaliation people could come up after the show and punch her in the stomach...But when it got going it was excellent.  Plus she was backed by the Sadies, who I didn't even think were listed on the bill.  Excellent band - they rocked out on their own for a couple of songs.

And plus for the last song they covered 'Magic Man' by Heart.

And she said the live album of her and the Sadies will come out in the fall, with a studio album next spring.

Am hoping to go, mostly to see Oceansize, which I've heard very good things about.

I will definitely be there. I'm pretty eager to see Oceansize live and McLusky always rocks out.

wow

 wow, wow, wow

unfrigginbelievable gig last night by Mclusky - loud, intense, fun - maybe the best gig I've been to this year

if only DC crowds would do more than tap their feet to a band like this - the music and the band were crying out for a bit of a mosh

really was a great show, I wish not so many people had left after Army of Me (who are boring), they probably would have enjoyed the show, although I did not mind the extra space in the club

did all the army of me fans stand at attention in front of the stage while they were playing?  and considering it was probably past their fans bedtime little wonder they all left.
