al green obviously can't draw that, i'm just saying that i don't understand why people justify spending more money on a show at a bigger venue when that's likely to be a less enjoyable experience, overall.

I guess not everyone considers a clubgoing experience to be as enjoyable as you (and others) do.

Perhaps you just suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder from getting whacked in the head with a bottle?

Yeah, that doesn't make sense to me either. I'd pay more to see a band in a smaller venue. Saw the Pixies at Merriweather for $40. I would definitely pay $55, probably more, to see them at a place like the 9:30

No, wanted to know about the venue. I bought tix for this show, mostly because it's on a Saturday night, vs. 9:30 on Sunday. It seems like a meat-market club, so I'm a little wary.

Well its smaller and good luck finding a parking spot. I've only ever gone there on friday nights and I wouldnt say its a meat market.
I saw Interpol there a while back and it was pretty good, the venue is small and the PA system could be a bit better for hosting live bands.

for those of you who have seen a few decemberists shows in the last couple years, are you going to this one?

they're one of my favorite bands, but i think i'm just going to take a show off ... the last 930 show was OK, but it really didn't hold a candle to previous ones in terms of setlist choices

methinks if i wait a few more months or so to see them again it will be better

I'm with you, I think.  While I looked in to the presale, I think I may be best served by skipping this go 'round.  I had the same reaction to the last 9:30 Club show, although the addition of Petra Haden is welcome (and really made an earlier show I saw in Portland special...).

It is great, and I've seen it twice.  So I'm good for a while.

 Where'd you find the MP3?

its definitely not a meat market club. not at all.  the club was started by two of the more prominent (if not the most prominent) rave party promoters on the East Coast and though they've been shying away from the techno/e-pill scene, its FAR from anything like Power Plant Live or Bohagers(was).  i mean, it IS a club so you will have your guys/girls meeting up thing but a meat market club is far far from an accurate description.

plus, the club is seperate from the concert venue, so you dont even have to go over there if you dont want and since it seperate admission, you'll just be with a bunch of Decemberist fans. (and me).
