The Doors?
« on: July 14, 2005, 02:37:00 pm »
I'm getting quite a headache:

I kind of want to go, simply out of curiousity, but my brain is telling me "STAY THE FUCK AWAY!" and I hate Ian Astbury. But I like Robby Kreiger. but it's $55! but I'm curious. but I'm going to a wedding the next morning.

should I go purely for nostalgia (that I never even experienced the first time around) or should I stay home?

I'm gonna go grab some advil......

Be afraid.  Be very afraid.  It'll sell out fast though.

The Doors? -- that's what they should call themselves, not the Doors of the 21st Century. How goddamn lame. the thought of this show is pretty disgusting. you are better off going to see a doors tribute band because at least the cover band are doing it for the love of the music and not just trying to cash in.

Ian Astbury is awesome though. one of the most underrated vocalists ever.

I hate the Doors.  I'd think about it if they still had Stewart Copeland around, though.

I think Ray Manzarek is amazingly talented, I always have. He's one of the smart ones...kind of a dork in some ways, but endearing. I am tempted to see this, but I'd rather pay 55 clams to see Devo, who will be amazing. I just can't see EVERYTHING. That being said, the Doors made some good music and I think they're a decent band. I loved it when Echo and the Bunnymen would interrupt "Do IT Clean" to play "Roadhouse Blues"...very cool.

I feel the same way about Sting, except I would add Andy Summers too.

The Doors are one of my most hated classic rock bands...and I saw the Cult circa 1990 and they were awful.

John Densmore to my knowledge is not dead......he just chooses to not be involved with this "incarnation" of the band, correct???

John Densmore doesn't really dig the idea of playing anymore. He's always been the cranky one anyway. Not that I blame him...who knows, maybe he didn't blow through his royalties like the other 2 did.
