There's plenty of hope.  These polls are all post convention bump.  I'm not worried.  She's going to have to speak at some point, and the Dems are prepared to talk about the issues - a battle I'm convinced we'll win and one that the voters want to hear about. [/b]
i can't wait to count the number of times obama says "uhhh" and "you know" . . .and multiply that by the number of times biden says "literally"

Did you know that McCain is a POW and a Maverick and Palin is a hockey mom who chose not to have an abortion?

I can't wait to talk about the issues and multiply that by the number of independent votes.

while couched in it's own folksy socialism, canada has been led by a conservative prime minister for the past few years, albeit through a minority government. . but, with the recent call for new elections, it's expected that he'll end up with a majority government. . .

as has happened in italy, germany, and , presumably, in england, whenever brown gets around to calling for a new election.  france, while not necessarily "conservative," is alot more US friendly under sarkozy than before.

Can someone please tell me what it means to be an independent voter?

I mean, I'm a registered independent, but I have probably voted for a democrat 95% of the time.

Despite what Ralph Nader says, there clearly are some defining differences between democrats and republicans.

What I don't understand is why there are so many Americans who call themselves "independent". Are they so weak in their beliefs that they can be do easily swayed between candidates? Are they people who are only motivated by "who can do the most for ME ME ME"? Are they people who don't give a shit about issues and only vote based on candidate personality? Are they people whose beliefs are such that the dems match some of their beliefs and the pubs match others?

 I don't get it.

saying youre an "independent" voter is just a means to sound open minded and sophisticated in a political argument/discussion.

although you tried to cover yourself by changing the issue . . . the words you focus on in this article 'jitters' and 'worry' are again the words of a biased reporter and not quotes from anyone of note.  Apologize!
