congratulatons, you are the first person in history to catch a politician lying.
the fact still remains that as governor, palin has significantly cut the earmark requests coming from the governor's office, and has the support of Sen. Tom Coburn on this issue.
of course, we shouldn't bother with discussing the
earmarks Obama requested for the University of Chicago Hospital, which employees his wife (who got a sizable raise after he was elected) and number one fan Valerie Jarrett (who has already been the topic of an earlier post), or the money earmarked to his friend James Crown. yes, he's a different type of politican alright.
nevertheless, tip of the cap to you.
however, let us agree on something: both a senator and governor act as a clearinghouse, or sorts for these requests. or least they should be. so, these "earmarks" could be coming from a number of places. so, the state of alaska has one number coming from, for example, various departments, agencies and municipalities throughout the state (anchorage daily news says for FY09, palin, via the "governor's office," asked for $100+ million in earmarks). now, on an individual senator basis, people come in and ask the senator or petition the senator for help building or funding something, and, presumably, if he and his staff think it's worthwhile, they make a request. is that a fair description?
