As I inferred a few posts ago, or at least meant to, my conclusion that she is not fit to lead goes far beyond this gaffe with the newspaper question.  But if you stand behind this lady, good for you.  BTW, and I hate to be the one to tell you this, she's blowing this election for you and yours, and has become a laughingstock even among your own party (in much the way the wooden John Kerry was in '04).

Her Couric interview sounded like me when I've interviewed for a job I wasn't qualified for.

she should be able to answer softball questions [/b]
especially one that's factual -   either you read publications or you don't.  if you do, name them.  if you don't, say so.

best palin analogy i've heard recently: her answers were like "a high-schooler trying to BS her way through a book report for a book she didn't read". [/b]

the problem is, at this point anything beyond "how are you today?" is potentially a gotcha question.

i must admit, you gotta admire GOP strategists.  candidate can't deal with simple questions?  re-brand the questions as "gotchas" - problem solved!  it's all a media conspiracy to put words in her mouth!  she's trying to answer in vague generalities, and they're cornering her into actually answering the question.

because i can't link enough to this article: What it's like to debate Sarah Palin.
