Wait, did you try to sneek this one in on purpose? I think I'd rather listen to some contemporary Rod Stewart.

What a gay choice.

DO NOT get that one.  Rather get GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD, if you must get ol' Reggie.

Ha- haven't thought about Toto in a bit!
Sorry, no time to write all the album titles...
Dylan, The Kinks, Squeeze, Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Midnight Oil, Smashing Pumpkins, The Police, The La's, The Plimsouls, The Ramones, The Replacements, U2, (before...well, you all know when), Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye. (And don't forget Toad's 1st album came out in '89 but written in '84/'85. ;) )

When I was younger, older kids played a lot of Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Black Sabbath. Until some got into Marley. I'm trying to remember all my parents listened to; their taste isn't too bad.

Laurie Anderson - Big Science
The Bongos - Drums Along The Hudson
 Hoodoo Gurus - Stoneage Romeos
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain or Funkadelic
Anything by X - the earlier the better
Anything by Bob Marley on Tuff Gong
The Disco Box - get this and Sat. Night Fever and   you'll have all the disco you'll ever need
The Kinks - One For The Road
KISS - Destroyer or Double Platinum
Pogues - Rum, Sodomy And The Lash
Psychedelic Furs - Psychedelic Furs or Talk Talk Talk
Public Image Limited - First Issue
 Ramones - It's Alive
 Lou Reed - Berlin
 R.E.M - anything on IRS
 Utopia - Utopia
Mission of Burma - that Ryko collection
Undertones - The Very Best of The Undertones

As for Elton John, I'd suggest his new 2CD Greatest Hit's package.  You can always throw away disc 2.  Disc 1 is fantastic.
