How about they just eliminate them ? Just pretend REM never happened... [/b]
AMEN! [/b]
Next you'll be wanting to rid us of Nirvana, G&R, & NIN.

All we'd be left with is a weird little Mankie utopia featuring 24/7 Pogues/Beautiful South/& Waterboys.

Worse than XM for me!   :D

Well Courtney already eliminated Nirvana,
 GNR eliminated themselves
NIN can stay...I just don't like that song.

I thought that the movie didn't really do the book justice.  For instance, where was the scene with the chocolate dipped urinal cake?

But I am a huge Wilhelm Dafoe fan! [/b]
Good point, that is a classic. The frantic call to his lawyer was in there though, and is a keeper. Following the book up in 90 minute form was going to be tough, but I think that Mary Harron did a good job.

It's official.  I have the worst collection of music.

 3. WANG CHUNG - "Everybody Have Fun Tonight"  (on a compilation of 80's tunes)
 5. VANILLA ICE - "Ice Ice Baby" (don't even knock it - you all know you liked it)
 6. HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS - "Heart of Rock 'n Roll" (on cassette)
 12. BEACH BOYS - "Kokomo" (on a greatest hits, but I skip it every time - heard Jason Scwartz say some funny things about it on Kimmel though) 21. SPIN DOCTORS - "Two Princes" (still listen to the album on occasion)
 24. FIVE FOR FIGHTING - "Superman (It's Not Easy)" (on one of the 9/11 tribute albums I own)
 26. THE DOORS - "The End" (this song has no business on this list)
 28. JOHN MAYER - "Your Body Is A Wonderland" (guilty pleasure...me and smackette's song awwwww)
 29. DEEP BLUE SOMETHING - "Breakfast At Tiffany's" (I enjoy the chord progression)
 31. CRASH TEST DUMMIES - "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" (great album, not the best song on the album though)
 35. R.E.M. - "Shiny Happy People" (ridiculous choice considering I have yet to see a single acoustic hairband song on this list)
 39. RICKY MARTIN - "She Bangs" (does the William Hung version count?)
 41. BILLY JOEL - 'We Didn't Start The Fire" (can still sing it all the wat through without the music...I was really sharp in those days - not drinking much yet)
 42. SIMON & GARFUNKEL - "The Sounds Of Silence" (see #26)
 48. THE BEATLES - "Ob La Di Ob La Da" (seriously, see #26 and #35)
 49. RIGHT SAID FRED - "I'm Too Sexy" (got to listen to something before I go out - just kidding, I don't have this one)

6. HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS - "Heart of Rock 'n Roll"

 A classic.

 13. GENESIS - "Illegal Alien"

 Weak song, great frikin' album.

 26. THE DOORS - "The End"

OH come on!! how can you NOT have this album??

 27. EUROPE - "The Final Countdown"

Don't have it, but I saw them open up for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour back in the day... man they sucked.

 35. R.E.M. - "Shiny Happy People"

Not the greatest REM album, but OK.  The only truly bad REM album was Monster.  Some of the rest... ahhh man, if you don't get Fables or Murmur or Chronic Town, you're retarded.

 42. SIMON & GARFUNKEL - "The Sounds Of Silence"

 Try 50 GREATEST songs.

 48. THE BEATLES - "Ob La Di Ob La Da"

How can you NOT have the White Album????

I have the Wang Chung and Right Said Fred tracks - and what might be worse, is that I actually like them.  :)

P.S.  Anyone from this board catch Wang Chung's live show at Jaxx back in summer 2000?  It was great!  I lose points for saying that, I know!

 Cheers

There's nothing wrong with either.  BTW, Right Said Fred had a couple of more hits in Europe, besides Too Sexy.

I am sorry to report that NONE of these songs are on any of my 500+ cd's.

grotty, grotty, grotty.  The only endearing aspect of that song is the lovely and amazing Kate Pierson.  Not the B-52s, the *best* B-52.  She even makes Iggy Pop shine..."Candy" is one of my favorite songs.

Not even this one?

 38. REDNEX - "Cotton Eye Joe"

I'm shocked.  What kind of alt-country fan do you claim to be?

Oh the tricks DJ's will play on one another ... At a recent guest spot I did, the DJ that followed my set chose that Rednex song as their first track.  Strangely, I felt the need then to tell people, "No, that *wasn't* me [who put that on]."  Lovely.  ;)

 Cheers

There's nothing wrong with the B-52s.  Cindy Wilson has the better voice, BTW.  When the B-52s first came unto the scene they were mind-blowing.  I remember seeing them on the old Saturday Night Live program, back when it was cutting-edge.  They effin' rawked!

Har har. They used to play that song endlessly at my gym, between Hootie and Dave Matthews, before they upgraded to Muzak.
