Do You Read...Sports Blogs?
« on: April 24, 2007, 08:45:00 pm »
As an NBA follower, I'm come to depend on the juxtaposition and passion of certain blogs: (  Free Darko )  as well as keeping tabs on the home teams  (DC Sports Bog ) . I'm wondering though, where others go (if they do) for a daily dose. Hmm?

No, but music blogs WITH sports content is a terrible idea...and there's a couple of them.

Amen, Hoya. But would Steinberg by Steinberg without Simmons? I don't know enough to know, honestly. But growing a playoff beard is pretty kewl

good point, but he's just a lot fresher than simmons ... that said, he'll probably get old, repetitive, and annoying in a couple years just like simmons

That's a better point, but I hope he doesn't lose it. He's amazing right now. But the Post isn't a sinkhole: look at Kornheiser, he's remained fresh and relevant all these years...

steinberg is fantastic and simmons can be a bit much at times, but i think it's easy to take simmons for granted at this point. i mean, since i'm one of "the other 19" nba obsessives, i enjoy his 4,000 word ramblings on the nba, not sure that goes for many others.

wizznutzz is often incomprehensible but still plenty entertaining.  can't stop the bleeding isn't anything too special, but i find it entertaining just because it's gerard cosloy writing it. free darko's a good one. when i just want the smart, straight up analysis, i go to john hollinger's stuff on espn.com and everything on the baseball prospectus web site.

Buster Olney and Rob Neyer for baseball.

EPL Talk and the The Guardian for Footie.

Not at all what I expected from my Sports Page this morning:

 FIRST PERSON
 Old Mike, new Christine
By Mike Penner, Times Staff Writer
 April 26, 2007

During my 23 years with The Times' sports department, I have held a wide variety of roles and titles. Tennis writer. Angels beat reporter. Olympics writer. Essayist. Sports media critic. NFL columnist. Recent keeper of the Morning Briefing flame.

Today I leave for a few weeks' vacation, and when I return, I will come back in yet another incarnation.

 As Christine.
