I made it at least twenty miles before any walking in 10 of my 12 marathons. However, I only made it a full non-stop 26 miles in only two of those 10. I'm convinced that getting training runs in that exceed 20 miles is crucial to going the extra 6.2.
I think the actual saying is "The first half of the run is the first 20 miles. The second half is the final 6.2." That's certainly the way it always felt for me.

24 miles is bit excessive for a training run... 20 should be your max, cause if you can do 20, you can do 26. [/b]
