I think it’s awful but I like it?
Trying to justify liking this turd with something other than “I am a Phoenix fanboy!”
it's no 1901/Entertainment, not that they need to continue to do the same thing
but I've tried again and I can't stand this new song and that video is just horrid

Glorietta - Glorietta

found out about another Adrian Quesada associated project... this one is a super group of songwriters knocking out a record over five tequila soaked days..

those involved

Noah Gundersen
Matthew Logan Vasquez
Kelsey Wilson
Adrian Quesada
Jason Robert Blum
David Ramirez

An interesting Americana record

Adrian's just released tribute to Balada Music "that blossomed throughout Latin America between the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. A refined collision of bossa nova smoothness, Beatlesque psychedelia and torrid boleropathos, balada used art-pop instrumentation (mostly strings and harpsichords)"

This is an amazing listen...  Gonna get lots of repeat listens..

Bettie Serveert - Palolmine

was mentioned on twitter yesterday and was prompted to give a listen after many many years... a couple real classics on this one "Kids Allright" and Tomboy.

and this is quite the origin story

The band originally formed in 1986, but its members split up for four years, following their first gig. They reformed in 1990, and released their debut album, Palomine, in 1992

Love that album

I need it on LP!

It’s sad how the band faded away

They had a killer album of VU covers

Saw them at the new 930

Loved Lamprey and caught them at the club on that tour

this was a funny footnote

Almost 26 years after starting the band, Bettie Serveert finally met the Dutch tennis player Betty Stö:ve on April 13 ’18. Her ’70’s tennis instruction books called ‘Betty Serveert’ were the inspiration for their band name.

I like lamprey which I do have on LP too

They lost me with Dustbunnies although I have later records

They had some great early b sides that I don’t think ever got compiled

Carol’s voice was perfect

I wish I had seen them more back in the day

You can't make this shit up.  Cock Van Der Palm and Han Wellerdieck.  A pairing for the ages.
