Micah P. Hinson and the Red Empire Orchestra.

Forthcoming release on Jade Tree. Currently available as an import (and as a free stream on Last.fm).

This album is fantastic. It will be tough to knock this out of my top spot for album of the year.

I wasn't too crazy about them when they opened for Jay Reatard here.

Maybe I should give the album a listen.

It's basic beefed-up Strokes rock, but I have a high tolerance for music like that. A month from now, it will probably be something else.

Have listened to the new Franz Ferdinand song about half a dozen times today. I really like this band; they're predictable and they sound pretty much the same as they did before, but they do their angular party rock as well as anyone.

Thee Oh Sees - The Master's Bedroom is Worth Spending a Night in

Slightly noisy up-beat psych-pop that should be up the alleys of many here.

The Sea and Cake - Car Alarm

This is leagues better than Everybody, that snoozefest of an album they put out last year.

Good to hear!  I loved Strange Geometry, but I also never got around to their new one.  How do the girl's vocals fit into the sound of the band?

You know, I thought they were really pronounced on only a few tracks. They were a nice touch.

Just as good as Strange Geometry on the whole, IMO.
