New GBV showed up a bit early. Pretty good and weird...I'll need to give it another listen or two, but it seems like a strong album than some of the recent ones.

Pastel - Souls In Motion

Got wind of this one from via a BritPop bubble I'm in and decided to give it a listen... My first impression was this one is for those who think Oasis wasn't bombastic enough, but then seeing they were on a label called it "The Spirit Of Spike Island" it began to sink there was way more Stone Roses influences in their sound.

To some extend this is a more successful of an album then that ill=fated superstar collab from last year. Basically, you get a front man channeling the swagger of Ian and Liam and a guitarist tapping into Squire's harder edge, along with other 90s British band influences.  I would think if you enjoyed that period of bands, then this is the record for you.  It should be noted the band was formed by two Manchester-raised brothers and we know how that has worked on it the past.

this is also a great Friday afternoon listen and they keep saying guitar rock is dead  ::)

i leave you with this "Deeper Than Holy"

"Fruit Tree" by Nick Drake - The bonus 500songs episode

wow, he got to play small set for the rolling stones when he was in morroco
before any recording were ever done
Mick liked it so much he told Nick to look them up back in england....which he never did

whoa...never knew this
The Cure's band name was inspired by Nick Drake's song "Time Has Told Me" from his first album Five Leaves Left. Specifically, Robert Smith was drawn to the lyrical line "a troubled cure / for a troubled mind". In a 2004 BBC interview, Smith directly stated that "This song gave me the idea for the name of my group

FireAid

For being 80 Rod Stewart is sounding pretty good, but his voice was also on gravelly side anyways. Plus, his backup singers aren’t always doubling his vocals except in the chorus.

I think this summer I am finally going to see Rod live…. It’s now or never. About 15 years ago I had a free pavilion ticket to see him at jiffy lube but couldn’t make it..always been a bit bummed about that

I love Faces so much. I need that new box set but hoping to get it for $50

Then again you can’t see everyone live

Too bad the sound is off during the Nirvana set, because St. Vincent, Kim Gordon and Joan Jet were all ripping it up with Smear, Novoselic and Grohl.

Tre Cool popping up to give a fan who had lost in the fire a drumstick he had caught at a Green Day show a signed replacement set of drumsticks was pretty nice

Stevie Wonder and Sting trading lines on Higher Ground with Flea rocking out on bass was quite the thing to witness

Speaking of old dudes still singing as strong as ever, here is 84 year old Tom
Jones belting it with the Blind Boys of Alabama back stage at a festival last year

The set with sound is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/r3j3TSjhXP0?si=i5moqc-hSf97EbSV

I don't care for St Vincent but Breed rocked
