Matias Aguayo - Are You Really Lost?

So good. SO so so good. I miss the days of great minimal techno with vocals.
Woof.

Thanks for posting this. I forgot about it. Having Matt and Joel back with Anton is a huge plus for the band and their fans.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Icelandic release of their
breakthrough album 'Agaetis Byrjun', Sigur Ros have made available
two exclusive live performances from the original launch party
concert at the Icelandic Opera House on the night of June 10, 1999 -
back when few people outside Reykjavik hadn't the foggiest clue who
they were.

Watch it here http://vimeo.com/4608579
.

'Nyja Lagid' video - filmed originally for Icelandic TV and unseen
for years, this shows the boys when they really were still boys,
performing a song that never made it onto Agaetis Byrjun (or any
subsequent album) and disappeared from their set-list shortly after
this date. The film also records the last show by original drummer
Gusti. The audio of this live recording was featured on Sigur Ros's
first ex-Iceland release, the 'Svefn-G-Englar' EP.

Download 'Hafssol' here
http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/band/disco/agaetis.php
.

'Hafssol' audio - a fascinatingly transitional rendition of the
seminal 'Hafssol' (later 'Hafsol'), which has been one of the true
survivors in the band's live show, having appeared in almost
unrecognisably nebulous form on their debut album 'Von', and then
gone through endless transmogrification year by year until its
arrival on 2007's 'Hvarf/Heim' double pack. (If you follow the link
above you can sign up to download the song.)

Hope you enjoy them both. They'll be further celebrations to mark the
10th anniversary of the release of 'Agaetis Byrjun' outside Iceland in
due course, but we will of course let you know.

Have started listening to M-nus record podcast series called "Minus Connections"  where the labels artist, etc pick the tracks that influenced them, etc.  They make great listening to while traveling in a tin can through concrete tunnels.  So far choice tracks from the likes Grandmaster Flash, Kraftwerk, New Order, Jean Micheal Jarre, Model 500, Paperclip People and Steve Hurley.

Getting prepped for Thursday night.

Chaz, did you get a chance to listen to this yet?

Pajo - Scream with Me

This is pretty great, in a hilarious way.  I can't tell if it makes he think Danzig's lyrics are stupidly awesome or awesomely stupid.  Either way, it's amazing how sweetly he sings "I'll put a knife...right in you."
Thank you thank you for making me aware of this.

Thats a great Ella record for sure.. and the Ween too ..I"ll be at the Dewey Debauch 2009 show..

I was just listening to Kraftwerk's Computer Love and am going to bed. Thats a show I wish I'd gone to at the 930...big mistake not to.

Discovery - LP

My nomination for WORST album of the year!  Strictly amateur hour, think it of it as Postal Service lite.

On my drive to work:

Then switched it cuz it wasn't really driving music to:

Dead Weather's decent so far, only heard the first 4 or 5 songs. I like the sound, can't wait to sit down and hear the rest. Wale's doing what he does, his track with Lady Gaga is meh though.

I'm listening to the Dead Weather LP myself... I have to say I'm underwhelmed but I have to listen to it a lot more.. I have faith in Jack White.. he's never let me down again...

I wish they'd fit it on one platter... I don't think its much more than 46 minutes and the etching on Side D is just pointless...at least put some extra tracks on it like the songs from the 45... also no cd or download with LP which is OK as I pretty much only listen to vinyl but still...

i'd suggest, rather strongly, that you go to the show.  i saw them perform a while back in NYC and their stage show is solid - very rock'n'roll in the classic sense.

jack white fans will get their fill - he comes out from behind the drum kits for several songs - but be aware that alison is the leader of the pack, and a great one at that.  she keeps the boys in line.

i'll might be seeing them on thursday in NYC, will depend on my work/travel schedule.  i hope i can make it.
