whoa, how could I have forgotten Nellie?

 1. BR549
 2. Nellie McKay
 3. Jolie Holland
 4. Bobby Bare Jr.
 5. Grant Lee Phillips
 6. Jesse Sykes
 7. Norah Jones

4 out of my top 7 are women. Can any non-lesbians out there top that?

 Most overrated: Loretta Lynn's album

this list is sure to change with impending releases by Old 97's and Drive By Truckers.

I'll try this one and I'll (sort of) put them in order.

  1. Muse - Absolution (US Issue was 2004)
  2. All Night Radio - Spirit Radio Frequency
  3. Radiohead - Com Lag
  4. Cooper Temple Clause - Kick Up The Fire
  5. The Thermals - Fuckin A
  6. Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner
  7. Basement Jaxx - Cish Cash
  8. The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
  9. Burning Brides - Leave no Ashes
 10. Radiohead - Hail To The Thief (screw you, i still like it!)

and I am sure the new Interpol will be up there by years end.

I haven't bought enough CDs this year for a very comprehensive list, but....

 Burning Brides -- Excellent
TV on the Radio -- Very Good
 Mountain Goats -- Very Good
 Icarus Line -- Very Good
 Franz Ferdinand -- Very Good

I was kind of disappointed in Sonic Nurse.  It sounds like Murray Street outtakes.  It's Murray Street without the grab.  Perhaps it will grow on me.

I haven't heard the new Wilco, !!!, or Von Bondies yet.

I'm looking forward to the new Q And Not U.

alright, i was wrong about belle & sebastian but I know for a fact that "Hail to the Thief" was definitely 2003.  What about Snow Patrol "Final Straw"?  That's some solid pop there.

Yep.  That would be my most listened to Album of this year.  I'm not sure what that means, but it deserves mentioning on this list.
