Sorry that TSAR couldn't make it.

 Any word why?

They would be a fun Black Cat band.

When I saw them earlier in B/more they just seemed geninely happy to be playing and that energy translates to the crowd. The replacements they chose to fill the shoes of the fallen ones were well done.Glad to have them back at it.It's definitely no parody.People criticize coz they don't look so young anymore. They're still at it and age does that to all humans lucky enough to live that long.

sammy fuckin' yaffa of hanoi rocks on bass! dude is actually better than arthur kane.

yet another dinosaur surprise tonight. david johanson may look old as shit but he's kept in great shape (like the ig) and was a great frontman tonight. the dolls played everything i wanted to hear, and much better than i expected. tight rhythm section and searing leads. awesome shangri-la's cover.

I was going to go last night but couldn't due to a last minute crisis.  Saw 'em last year in NY and they were a blast.  I know it would be a fun time....too bad I couldn't make it.

Was it sold out?  If not, how full?

not soldout don't know what the final count was but the floor was pretty full...  an interesting mix of old fans, fans like myself who were too young to experience the band, and some teenagers who understood the band's importance.

 Setlist on it's way....

Anyone here actually see Johnny Thunders? A buddy saw him in Detroit at point in the 80s and he was already in pretty bad shape.

The new drummer is actually a bit of a local boy, playing in of all groups The Getaway Car as well as Buster Poindexter.

The new guitar player is in a NYC band called The Crown Jewels  http://www.crownjewelsnyc.com/

The keyboard player appears to be  a NYC session musician...

Good size crowd, my guess about 600, but the way everything was set up it seemed like a very respectable turnout. "Vietnamese Baby" rocked even harder than the record in my opinion. The only disappointment was the flat drumming on "Looking For a Kiss", which started the show off, but after that it pretty much rocked. By the end of "Jet Boy" and "Human Being" it was clear that Sylvain Sylvain ain't no slouch on guitar...maybe he was channeling Johnny Thunders. All in all, a VERY good performance. I'd go see them again.

Showing up just before show time meant I barely got a glance at the merchandise.  That being said, I've just added at least one item to my Christmas list.  That belt buckle rules.

Sami is a great great great bass player.  I have mad undying love for Hanoi and learned as many of his bass lines as I could when I was getting started playing.  Probably my biggest single influence as a bass player.

And I had no clue he was playing with the Dolls.

I am very sad now that I missed that show.

That was a pretty amazing concert.  I will say that when I got there (maybe 7:40 or so?), I think that there were about 15 other people inside.  I was just a little surprised.

I also really liked their cover of Piece of My Heart.  Since I actually only own their self-titled CD, I was very happy with their song selection.  I did miss Showdown and Stranded in the Jungle, though  :( .

 But yeah...a very good concert.
