going, because they sound just like the old 97s.

actually, strokes fans will likely like the openers, french kicks.

Saw them in Baltimore.  Good show, they pull it off and that guy can really sing (not tracks, no special boxes processing his voice).  I would go but Gibson Haynes is playing.

Sounds like a good reason to see them!!  :)

Pitchfork is one of those hipper-than-thou sites that bugs me. Their reviewers love to gush over obscure and/or weird bands, just to be cool (IMHO).

It's a great source for news, but reviews....well to each their own.

kind of disappointing.

the keane guy has great pipes but the material is, sort of bland.  kind of like starsailor, dazzling vocal talent but not much soul.

it is pretty on the record, which is why i went but although they sounded no different live, perhaps that was the problem.  and probably i would've dug it more if they weren't 1.5 hours late.  it just kinda dampened the mood to be standing around for that long in a sold-out smoke filled room.

the HFS donkey came out at 10:15 and said, oh, the plane has already landed, they're here, it'll be just a few minutes.  it was obvious he was full of crap.  they didn't start until about 11:30.  Maybe 25 minutes later, they said, "this is our last song."  not feeling it, I left.  for the sake of those who remained, I sure do hope they bothered with an encore.  WTF is that?  show up that late and play for thirty minutes?  but then, they'd played five or seven songs, so....

french kicks sound like franz ferdinand or the strokes or any of those other bands.  pretty good live, i won't rush out to buy the CD but they were more entertaining.

nice attitude!!!! you know why they were late? they were waiting for you!!!  and then they figured you must be there, so they went on. and then when they found out you werent there, they abruptly left.

see.  you ruined it for everyone. And you're just glad you saved a few bucks....sheesh.
