The Decemberists album hasn't fared well on repeat listens, especially compared to their last one.

stellastarr*.  It is made up of all the slow songs on their first album that I would skip.  To grandiose and pretentious sounding.

I was kinda disappointed by Beck's  Guero. The songs were alright I guess, but nothing on it really thrilled me as I would have liked.
Scientology has made him mediocre. [/b]
If that is why he censored Mellow Gold (all the cusses are bleeped now), then I think it is time to crush scientology.

the new Death Cab album...I had really high expectations, and it was just "ok."  it didn't really get me the same way their others do...Gibbard has changed his lyric-writing style on this one.

I also got a pre-release type thing of the 2006 Rooney album, and was confused and NOT impressed.  they tweaked a lot of what I have and not all of these songs will be on the new album, so all I can do is pray that they did a whole helluva lot of tweaking.

don't lie, you never listened to Death Cab before this album, and before they were mentioned on the OC.

Got the Bloc Party album the other day and my first reaction after listening to it one time is that it is pretty boring. Now, I need to listen to it a couple more times before sending it to the trash. I remember the first time I listened to a Pogues song, A Pair of Brown Eyes, I couldn't understand how people could like it (now I am flying 2500 miles to see them in DC).

worlds apart was certainly not up to standard for the trail of dead, but it had its moments, like on will you smile again, rest will follow, the best...

None of these were disappointments, since I wasn't expecting to like them...

 1. I still hate the White Stripes. Still think they suck.

 2. My Morning Jacket really sucks.

 3. I don't get the critical raves for New Pornographers or Sufjan Stevens. Listenable, but certainly not special.

 4. The singer from the Decemberists kills whatever chances they have of being good with his annoying, faggy (not that there's anything wrong with being gay) voice.

Wow, way to be a narrow-minded asshole.  But my first Death Cab cd was in fact The Photo Album, which was released, and I recieved WELL BEFORE The OC went on the air.  Thanks.

The new Stellastarr album was a big disappointment. I agree with the critique above.

It was also a disappointment how poorly Ladytron's new album sold. Eighty percent of that record is excellent.

But my biggest disappointment was that the new Sleater-Kinney album didn't completely blow donkey balls.

Trail Of Dead, Daft Punk, and Stellastarr* are my top three, in that order.

Sufjan Stevens, New Pornographers, and Decemberists (and alot more) were OVERRATED as Rhett or somebody said, but I guess I wasn't expecting fantastic records going in. Well, I did think Michigan by Sufjan was pretty great, but still I wasn't expecting to be floored by Illinois, and I wasn't.

I disagree with whoever said Beck. That was his most solid release since ODelay.

Give it some more listens.  I am beginning to like it after intitially having the same reaction as you.  My biggest gripe is that the album is so heavily compressed, the vocals are way too in your face like the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Personally I've been disappointed by the whole year.  But, I have gotten far fewer releases than I have in years past, so may have missed some gems.

I have two Andrew Bird albums that I love. The new one, which has certainly caught on with the critics, has not really caught on with me. So I guess that's a bit of a disappointment.
