The timing of this sucks. I put up with cigarette smoke at shows for 20+ years, and the year that I'm planning on effectively retiring from going to clubs is the year they ban smoking. Great. But I guess I should be happy for the rest of the clubgoing DC audience.

You're right. "Extended vacation" from clubgoing would have been the more accurate term. Retirement, probably not.

I plan to stop going to shows once my wife is pregnant and when we have a small infant at home. When the kid gets older, I reckon we'll begin going to shows again, if it's something we're still interested in.
