so maybe the fact that el tee is acquaintance of mine clouded my judgement a tad on this one... regardless  a overtly male locker room environment does exist here and people are voicing concerns.

She left a dance club with some islanders (guys) and went drinking with them.  If I'm not mistaken, she's underage.  She was partying with them, they claim they left her on the beach.....alive  She's been missing ever since.

the whole press/public obsession with missing blonde teenage girls is ridiculous.  But then again, this is the culture where Nick and Jessica possibly splitting up makes the front page of cnn.com.

She let herself be videotaped giving a blowjob to an stranger.  Maybe in the oughts this sort of behavior is merely passe???

Anyway, sometime last century if you were caught videotaped blowing strangers there was a social stigma attached.

From what I've read, the crime rate in Aruba makes the U.S. (and pretty much any other country) look like the Wild West.  Prior to Holloway, there were something like three murders and ten rapes in the previous five years.  And a bank robbery in 2003.

So, can we assume that any young woman that goes home with a guy she meets in a club (anywhere in the world) is walking into a lion's den and should expect to be raped and killed?

I didnt know you had to be of age to leave with some islanders.

Also, Aruba is not the U.S., I do believe the drinking age is 18.

So am I a total old man now and think a girl her age shouldn't be making a trip like that with classmates? My senior trip was to OC, but I feel that was a little bit different.

How do you know she was raped and killed?  Were you in Aruba, or something?

For all we know she's still alive, and being held as a sex slave for Hugo Chavez.

Didnt a couple get their heads chopped off a few years ago in OC, they had just met another couple at a bar there I believe.

Kosmo your moderation is appreciated. Although I didn't take it as an attack, I did think the commentary / post was inappropriate.
(And, sheesh, so I replied to comments made immediately after mine - big deal.)  <img src="http://www.aperfectworld.org/cartoons/panelsaw_small.png" alt=" - " />

You "haven't really been following this story", but yet you're spending your time reading Aruban crime rate statistics?

What story have you been following? The Sidney Ponson story?
