good - how was Laura Cantrell?

Lloyd was his usual pithy self at an almost sold out Birchmere - a nice sprinkling of songs from across his catalogue - 5/6 Commotions songs and the rest solo, a Leonard Cohen cover (Famous Blue Raincoat) and a French anti-war song

Listening to acoustic versions of the Commotions stuff only whetted my appetite for seeing the full band in Dublin later this year

How did I know Lloyd would come on later? On Sunday the headliner came on first, right AT 7:30.

Listen to this shit though.....I'm sat in my office feeling all sorry for myself because I really wanted to go to the show, when at 7:15 I was told to eff off home, nothing is happening.

I thought about driving to the Shutyerstinkingpieholemere to catch the end of the show, but decided that was just retarded.

I could've gone after all!

Are you sure the Nields weren't the headliner? Maybe it was a double headliner bill?

Here is my review of Lloyd Cole's gig last night ...

Lloyd Cole took to The Birchmere stage last night at around 8.15 p.m., dressed head-to-toe in black, his salt-and-pepper hair cut short, with his face unshaven.  All I could think of was the "Bad Vibes" album cover, and how absolutely gorgeous he looked!

He sat down to play/sing most of the songs, but then stood up later to perform some of the others.

In between his songs he said a few things to the audience, even stopping midway whilst performing to chat to the crowd.  I didn't mind; I always love hearing his (speaking) voice.  :)

 Here is the setlist:

 1. The Song Of The French Partisan (from 1943/1944, also covered by Leonard Cohen)
 2. Music In A Foreign Language
 3. Charlotte Street
 4. My Other Life
 5. Don't Look Back
 6. Late Night, Early Town
 7. Butterfly
 8. Famous Blue Raincoat (Leonard Cohen cover)
 9. Trigger Happy
 10. Brand New Friend
 11. No Blue Skies
 12. Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken?
 13. Like Lovers Do
 14. Mr. Wrong
 15. Cut Me Down
 16. Pay For It
 17. Mainstream
 18. No More Love Songs
 19. I'm Gone
 20. Love Like This Can't Last
 21. Unhappy Song
 22. Four Flights Up
 23. My Bag
 24. Chelsea Hotel (Leonard Cohen cover)
 25. Lost Weekend
 26. 2CV
 27. Undressed

 Cheers

 DJ Medusa.

just got back from the rams head show....what a great, enjoyable concert...

seemed to be pretty much the same as the birchmere show....same playing "style", almost same set list...though he did throw in perfect skin  :)
