so did d-plan end up playing?  i was down there for the aquarium and left after travis came on stage and said they were going to wait to see if the rain was letting up...we stood there for a little while in the rain arguing about whether we should stay or go..we eventually left..

dude... i'm sorry you left. after the skies opened up and the rain poured down (not that bad actually!! annoying but fun)... they managed to squeeze in an hour's worth of good d-plan tuneage.... wow. got to love them. they apologized and said they'd definitely come back and play a club show to make up for the lost time and the weather tonight. they were looking superfine and sounded great. what fabulous energy..

hightlight of the show (well, two): Travis saying "i ain't no ho! i receive payments through paypal for any services rendered" after some kids threw some money onto the stage

During the beginning of "You are Invited," someone was holding up a "Very Sexy" sign and in the middle of singing, travis kept laughing and smiling and could bearly keep a straight face. "you cant put it up with the drum machine!"

It was a very good time...withstanding the elements only added to the goodness.  And the setlist was splendid...D Plan Get Rich was the highlight off the top o' me head.

P.S.  To clairify, it was a "Ben is Very Sexy" sign that was held up during You Are Invited, and as Ben is the drummer, it seemed to be odd timing...   :)

P.P.S.  Paige, we make good pirates...I've had worse weather on the Spanish Main arrrrr.

Yeah, we got over there at 9:00 and caught about 40 minutes of Dismemberment.  It was good -- but I can understand if you left -- it was coming down in BUCKETS right around 8:00.  It didn't seem possible to hold a show even  if it stopped raining, but after a couple margaritas at Guapo's, we were leaving and it really did seem nice out.  So we headed over and were very lucky.

But here's my question -- a friend was with me and his comment was, "I forget how awful indie crowds are."  We were in the back, and from our vantage point you couldn't see a person moving, much less kinda 'concert dancing.'  I'm sure right up front it was great, but 80% of the crowd just kinda stands there with hands in their pockets.  What's the deal with that?

I was in back dancing and enjoying.  And they're playing agian in about six weeks!!!  Ya-hoo.

PS, their drummer KICKS ASS.  Wow.

I stayed just long enough to get soaked through, but didnt really feel it was worth once they said they would play another show.  Somebody who stayed told me the sound was awful, not true?

I'm sorry I missed the set. I got completely soaked, saw no one and headed home. I'm glad to hear there will be a club show to make up for it!

well, i think there would have been more dancing if it hadnt' had been hurricane-like conditions before the set. i was in the mood to dance, but anytime my legs moved i was cold and sticky (obviously).. there were some major dancers, but i guess that the weather put a damper on that.

and yeah, their drummer does rule! love him. wait, love the whole band!

Agreed.  I braved the elements, but I at least was smart enough to bring an umbrella...not that it helped.  And while I am highly excited for one last club show, man, that was a blast last night.  I can't even remember if I've ever heard "One Too Many Blows to the Head" live before.

Walkman...I'm pretty sure I saw you over to the right side of the stage, under a plastic tarp I think.  I would've stopped by to say hi, but as I was miserable waiting for them to play, I felt it better to stand still and sulk.

I'm no sound engineer, but I thought they sounded GREAT, especially considering the conditions and a rushed sound check.  I tend to love shows when there's been rain because everyone feels a little crazy and the bands tend to cut loose.  Really great energy last night, I thought.  Glad they're going to do another one, though.

I'm no soundman either, but everything sounded great to me. Their drummer does kick ass!! It was nice to see how many people either stuck it out or came back. How many people you think were there? I estimated 400. That may be a bit high, but it was a big crowd!
