well, it's been fun . . . .
« on: August 20, 2005, 12:02:00 pm »
i'm sure most won't care, and some will sigh a relief of "thank god," but it is the final farewell to me.  walkonby is leaving the nine thirty forum building, for he's moving out of range of where the internet can reach.  i really didn't know that was possible, unless you can live only on dial-up and i don't do dial-up. but i had my fun learning how bored some people (myself included) can really be.  cheerios and warm milk to all, and to all, a good life.

OMG!  I'm leaving too then.  You are one of only a few truly interesting, open-minded, adventuresome, kind people in this crew of bullies.  I will personally miss you.

Who are they gonna beat on now for not using punctuation?  Who's spelling will they correct? (gues?) Who can they berate for being like James Joyce on crack?  As one of the few token chicks, I am sad to see you go. I think you were my wing-man. Safe travels...see you at "the" show!

I had dial up until last month...wasn't a problem at all except for trying to get U2 tickets on ticketmaster when they went on sale and downloading MP3s.  Everything else, including paying bills and buying stuff, no problem.

Is high speed better?  Yeah, but most of us could use a little more patience...

i could've been doing my courtney impression, which includes lying about everything for more attention.  yoo-hoo sonick the sweat hog.

it is hard to leave, and the situation plagues my mind.  out into the mountains and valleys of virginia is where i go, but i'll check out all resources.  i think i'm in love with badsushi now   ;)  , though i do like good sushi, too   ;)  , if it's prepared and performed correctly.  thank you for the compliments!  i will fight the good fight throughout future days into night, and dodge in and out of this forum consciousness.  (i prefer william wordsworth on heavy opium, though.) i would love to get together with some of these people i've meet on here without sight, and have them rattle my cage on whatever. cheers with the beers, and good points with the joints.

 later all.

I, sir, know William Wordsworth. I have eaten dinner at William Wordsworth's house on many an occasion. I have slept with William Wordsworth's daughter several times and in various positions, and I can assure you, you sir are no William Wordsworth.

Dialup isn't so bad... especially on this board, which is relatively low-graphics.   Stick around!

If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
 Walkonby, walkonby

 Make believe
that you don't see the tears
 Just let me grieve
in private 'cause each time I see you
 I break down and cry
 And walkonby (don't stop)
 And walkonby (don't stop)
 And walkonby

   :(  *sniff sniff*

on't you come see about me
I'll be alone, dancing --- you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out
Love's strange --- so real in the dark
 Think of the tender things
 That we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

 Don't you forget about me
 Don't, don't, don't, don't
 Don't you forget about me
 Will you stand above me
Look my way, never love me
 Rain keeps falling
 Rain keeps falling
 Down, down, down
 Will you recognize me
 Call my name
 Or walkonby
 Rain keeps falling
 Rain keeps falling
 Down, down, down

 Don't you try and pretend
 It's my beginning
 We'll win in the end
 I won't harm you
 Or touch your defenses
 Vanity, insecurity
 Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing --- you know it, baby
 Going to take you apart
I'll build us back together a heart, baby
 Don't you forget about me
 Don't, don't, don't, don't
 Don't you forget about me

 As you walkonby
 Will you call my name
 As you walkonby
 Will you call my name
 When you walk away
 Oh, will you walk away
 Will you walk away
 Oh, call my name
 Will you call my name

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue."

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!
 Now your gonna die!!"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son-of-a-bitch that named you "Sue.'"

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!
