Wouldn't think of it. Someone gave us a gift certificate awhile ago, and we had a hell of a time finding anything we wanted there. Finally ended up getting a fondue making thingamagig.

The cd was from CD Game Exchange.

And speaking of cheesy corporate sponsored albums, this Starbucks compilation looks promising:

 Various Artists/Compilation - Sweetheart 2005 (Hear Music)
The latest Hear Music compilation of artists covering their favorite love songs features a great lineup including Neko Case, Sondre Lerche, Old 97â??s, Joseph Arthur, Martina Topley-Bird, Rufus Wainwright, M. Ward, Jim White, Madeleine Peyroux and other KEXP favorites. Songs range from old Tin Pan Alley chestnuts to the Smiths and Matthew Sweet. -

No, neither of those were recorded entirely in Spanish, so I am sure would not get played on the new HFS, but then you have not listened to it. So you are talking authoritatively about something you know nothing about, again.

Phew.....

I noticed that Starbucks have been shifting large volumes of CDs. But I still cannot feel entirely comfortable liking "coffee house music" whatever that means.

Do Frank Black's broken spanish screams in 'Vamos' qualify it to be played on the new HFS: El Zol?  Viva El ZOL! La oficial estacion de radio de los Washuerto Rico Nationales!!!!  (this post makes me yearn for upsidedown punctuation)

I actually don't like Mad Love much since it seems a bit of a half-assed attempt to do a crossover. His album "Vagabundo" IMHO is the best rock record in spanish. He has another one called "Libertad del ALma" which is a sort of greatest hits that came out before MAd Love..it's the best choice for the un-initiated..

Also check out Cafe Tacuba's "Cuatro Caminos" for some really mixed up stuff..

Jumbo is outstanding power-pop and one of my favorite bands  http://www.jumbo.com.mx

if you like more stuff a la kinky, amigos invisibles..check out Ilya Kuryaki & the Valderamas..

There's also the ska of Fabulosos Cadillacs, the fun rap-metal of Molotov, and the quircks of Plastilina Mosh..

My thoughts exactly. Do parents not teach tolerance for other races/cultures anymore? Imagine what these kids' kids will be like. I say someone should hunt them down and castrate them before these junior neo-Nazis get a chance to multiply.  :p

I'll bring the rusty knives, you bring the masks.  Seriously, if all these rednecks insist on trashing the latino community for this, I say good riddance to HFS and its pee brained listeners.

Thats not even a joke.  The ratings were pathetic according to the numbers I read today in the papers.  You can't blame them for switching to a more lucrative format.  Its a business.
And honestly, I kind of like the new stuff.  I'd rather hear salsa in the shower every morning than Creed.

That's a great point.  It's not the hispanic market's fault for the change and all of the intolerance shown by "loyal listeners" is doing a disservice to HFS.

"take away 99.5 or sumthng, no one needs that crap. 99.1 has the best concerts and they r always the biggest concerts of the season and sometimes year. i know the rating and number of people listnenig to the station are going down but until the number gets down to like 100 it should be kept. please bring them back. if i go to mexico there r no american stations, so in america there shouldnt be a mexican station."

Online Petitions have the same amount of impact as trying to fly a paper plane around the world. The folks at Infinity are not gonna take that seriously. If you really want to make a difference, stop by Asylum Wake, Skate and Snow to join others and your voice heard the right way.

In the end it comes down to money, not rock 'n' roll. The best station in town will be missed. :(

Another station will come but hopefully soon.
